Primeval is NOT a BBC show.

Indeed it isn't. But despite it's shortcomings I thought it was a nice lead-in to Doctor Who back in the days when the RTD version started at Easter. Great way to while away the weeks 'till 'the real thing' started. So, not real competition as it aired at a different time.

Let's face it, all Primeval was was a weekly version of an old Who story anyway - Dinosaurs vs UNIT, which we fans all know and love as the Jon Pertwee serial Invasion of the Dinosaurs.

The cast were fine as were the effects most of the time. A healthy situation, for a while. Who's influence in bringing back family tea time drama. Ok they were pale imitations of Who mostly, but the knock-on effect that produced Primeval, Demons, and the Beeb's own Robin Hood and Merlin was a good thing. I say keep it coming. Nice to have stuff like this that's not full of expletives and ott sex. And I'm NOT saying I don't like Game of Thrones! A bit addicted actually.

The most surprising thing was that The Musketeers was so obviously the next thing of this type, but that too could easily have been shown in Who's slot. Not much in it that warranted the 9pm gig on Sunday evenings.

What's more all the above produced better than average tv music scores.
