Is it true that music from TOUCH OF EVIL was "borrowed" for Universal's 1964 thriller KITTEN WITH A WHIP? KITTEN doesn't credit a composer in the film's credit crawl.
An old thread, I realise, but I have the 1993 Movie Sound records (Switzerland) issue of this, with the following track list:
01 Main Title 03:31 02 Borderline Montuna 02:04 03 Strollin' Blues 02:41 04 Orson Around 02:48 05 Reflection 03:02 06 Tana's Theme 02:27 07 Flashing Nuisance 01:38 08 Something For Susan 00:56 09 The Boss 01:06 10 Rock Me To Sleep 02:40 11 The Big Drag 02:22 12 Ku Ku 02:44 13 Son Of Raunchy 03:02 14 Lease Breaker 02:46 15 Background For Murder 07:18 16 Barroom Rock 01:17 17 Pigeon Caged 01:39 18 Blue Pianola 03:11 19 The Chase 00:59
Don't know if/how that relates to the other editions mentioned...?!
Really enjoyed the flick. Oh that Orson. Not to mention Dennis Weaver. Whew. But the music underscoring the end credits...uneventful. Unknown. So sorry, excuse preeze!
To bump this thread, I just ordered and received the Fresh Sounds release of Touch Of Evil. While earlier there were no sound samples available (Amazon, etc) the Fresh Sounds website now has samples for every track. And they (as is my CD) are definitely in "stereo". I'm curious if anyone here knows how these were created. It seems some type of spatializer may have been used, but the sound quality is terrific, and very satisfying in stereo. Take a listen to the samples and let me know your opinion: https://www.freshsoundrecords.com/henry-mancini-albums/3617-touch-of-evil-deluxe-edition-digipack.html

It fooled me into thinking it was real stereo, but it is not. Some sort of early spectral spatial technology was used.
And I don't know if they've mastered this more than once, but my copy was no-noised to death. It sounded like it was being suffocated. I ended up unloading it and keeping the Varese.
Can somebody here please help me out on this question: Which one of these 20 tracks -- if any -- is the slow, bluesy tune heard accompanying the post-film credits on the video?
Thanks...
I'll check it out of the library to see if I can help you PJ.
