Check this out. It's a 1977 TV commercial advertising THE DEEP soundtrack album.
Also, did you know that when the producers first requested John Barry, the company mistakenly contacted Barry Gray? It was in the Barry Gray concert book. Poor chap thought he'd landed a major motion picture score. I feel sorry for the person who had to say, "Actually, sorry, we didn't mean you".
That is interesting. Wonder what countries it was aired in at the time? Am I the only JB fan who hates that 70s disco Donna Summer song? The story of Casablanca Records? Im sure its a fine read....
Becketts "Calypso Disco" was the only reason I bought the album. It was the blue vinyl edition by the way.
Yep. LOVE that blue vinyl!
Wouldn't it be GREAT if whoever issues the soundtrack did so on a completely BLUE, but pressed, CD?!!!?
Yes it would be! I remember buying the blue vinyl edition at 58 Dean Street Records in London circa 1980. It was the first time I'd seen anything other than black in the LP format.
Watching that clip reminded me just how great John Barry's score is. It is so SAD that THE DEEP has not had an official CD release. If it does happen, I hope the score as heard in the film is available to do. I would be satisfied just to get an LP to CD release.
Thanks for posting this! What I'd like to ask is what are the steps for inserting the YouTube link/window within messages posted to FSM general discussion board. Could you reply to my email: kjbyrnes @ erols.com (delete blank spaces). Thanks, Kerry

Me too!
Folks, do check out Intrada's homepage on the 31st! Chances are very high that THE DEEP with album presentation and complete score on two discs will be announced next week. Check out the thread below (which probably is the reason for this very thread here being started in the first place):
