I remember watching this Cornel Wilde film on late night TV sometime in the late 60's. I only saw it once but I remember liking Elmer's score, very exciting in parts, a good film too! I believe this was produced by Wilde's own production company, Theodora Productions. I wonder if there is any chance that the tapes still exist and if it would be possible to release the music ? Anybody got any opinions, info ?

"Storm Fear" marked the directing debut of actor Cornel Wilde, and the first produced screenplay of Horton Foote (1916--2009) who went on to win Academy Awards for his screenplays for "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962) and "Tender Mercies" (1983). The film was shot on location in Sun Valley, ID and in Los Angeles at the KTTV studios. The film was released by United Artists. UA score tracks from the 1950s are quite rare, so I wouldn't hold out much hope for a release. MGM would be the likely source if they did exist.

Bob, thanks for putting up that nice poster, hadn't seen it before. Maybe Elmer had a copy of the mastertapes in his private collection ? One can only keep on hoping!

We can keep on hoping I suppose until we are told otherwise!

The movie STORM FEAR is about to be released in both Blu-ray and DVD, which I believe will be the first official release in home video. There's no information about isolated scores, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Release date is August 4th, 2015.

I too saw this on an afternoon movie one rainy weekend and it left an impression on me. I only caught it one more time on a Late, Late Show showing sometime in the 90s. Allegedly the new release will be from an HD remaster.
