I see all but one of Picnic's tracks on the Vocalion CD release of the original LP content are conducted by Morris Stoloff. Only one track (the first, Love Theme) is conducted by Duning.
Am I right in assuming tracks 2-13 are all from the original soundtrack, while track 1 was recorded separately and does not appear in the actual film?
Thanks in advance.

Just recieved the Twilight blu-ray of PICNIC and the transfer is excellent with an isolated music track. Unlike previous home video editions, this does not begin with an OVERTURE. The Overture of previous editions was indeed the Duning conducted Love theme, first track on the CD. Honestly I do not believe this was ever meant to be an Overture for theatrical presentations but only an addition to the soundtrack album. The Overture first appeared on the Pioneer wide screen laser and may have been added at that time to enhance the home video presentation. Perhaps someone more familiar with the original theater presentation of PICNIC can clear this up. Any how PICINIC never looked as good on home video as on this new Twilight blu ray.

Stoloff and not Duning receives credit in the film for conducting the score.

The MCA Classic Soundtrack credits Stoloff conducting the Columbia Pictures Orchestra. Duning is credited with the intital overture "Love Theme," which, as stated above, was not included in original distributions of the film.
