Variety reports that Steven Spielbergs 'War Horse' will now be released around Christmas 2011 instead of august 10th so approximately the same time/day as...'Tintin'. Smart move? It does mean that we will have to wait a whole other year for new Williams' music. So now maybe there's time in his schedule for 'Harry Potter'?

So that means TWO new Spielberg/Williams collaborations at the same time? Wow.

And maybe three totally different scores for 2011. Maybe three nomiations too? razz

Seriously, imagine...

- DH2: Epic, dark and Williams return to HP! Can you ask for more?
- War Horse: Subtle, beautiful and tragic. Something along the lines of Saving Private Ryan but with more delicate themes like in Artificial Intelligence.
- Tintin: Fun, lighthearted, and maybe what Indy 4 should have been? My most anticipated one, after what Conrad Pope said about it.

The king... has returned.

Microceratops, can you direct me to the place where Pope commented on TINTIN? It's the score I'm looking forward to the most, too.

Sure, here's what Conrad Pope said about the score. This was on August 2009:

I'm currently orchestrating a large piece with a number of ideas. The main theme is highly energetic, filled with great tonal twists and turns, reflecting, I suspect, Tintin's heroic energy. It will become a classic, I think. To give more information would be to reveal things that I don't think JW would want to say.

We are at the beginning of the process. The main scoring sessions are off in February.

Also, let me say with regard to Tintin, I believe, as with "Potter" and Catch Me if you Can, people will be both surprised and not surprised by how the music is both "expected" and "UN-expected"--- before you hear it.

And apparently, Williams finished the score in May 2010:

At home in Los Angeles, he takes a one-hour break from writing each day at dusk, he says, to walk at a golf course near his house. After his walk he returns to the piano, working until he has finished the day’s writing task: two or so minutes of music. Williams has just completed a chamber music piece for the La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest in California and the score for “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,’’ a Steven Spielberg movie due out next year.

Micoceratops, thanks for compiling these statements! Just one other question. I believe I read somewhere that an accordion would feature in the TINTIN score as a solo instrument. Was this just a rumour, or do you know something about this? Thanks again!

That was said also by Conrad Pope in a YouTube interview. He said that the score featured flute and accordion, or something like that smile

Still not totally convinced regarding the story. But Williams' statements that he loves English music make me hope that he will use this opportunity to write in an idiom he enjoys personally, and come up with something truly beautiful.
