Now that we have word from Lukas that The Homecoming is on the way for 2011 I can't help wondering once again if some of our wonderful labels are preparing Goldsmith's The Red Pony for release ? This is one of Jerry's loveliest Americana scores and surely deserves a release. I have never actually seen the film, to my knowledge it has not ever been shown on TV over here, but of course I might be mistaken in that ? Does anybody have any info on an upcoming release ?

I am with Niall on this. THE RED PONY is a superb score, one of Goldsmith's best. I believe he won an Emmy for it.

Since "The Red Pony" was a Universal production, Intrada or Varese would be the most likely sources for a release.

One of my most wanted scores on CD, a superb Goldsmith.

Yes, Goldsmith did win the Emmy, and the film was seen on The Disney Channel a decade ago.

Beautiful, beautiful score that I would love to have on cd. Hoping for a release in 2011 along with THE HOMECOMING

Thanks Bob. Maybe we'll see a release in 2011 from Intrada or Varese?

David Newman conducted a very nice suite from The Red Pony earlier this year at UCLA with the American Youth Symphony. I heard it live and it was very good, but the concert program didn't elucidate the components of the suite.

Does anyone have the breakdown of this suite into it's component cues?

An unofficial cd was issued and circulated widely

I believe that this C.D also had the documentary prologue music ("The Man Who Did Not Want To Paint") that Goldsmith composed for "The Agony And The Ecstasy".

Once again Varese drops a 'Goldsmith bomb' and has the release of the year
(at least for me). Two years ago it was LONELY ARE THE BRAVE, Last year it was
FREUD. What is next - an actual soundtrack from THE WALTONS? Naaah. Couldn't
happen. But if anybody would do it, I think it might be Varese.

Anyway, it's great to have a brand-spankin-new Goldsmith soundtrack released,
8 long years after his death.

I can't say enough good things about THE RED PONY. Mostly because I am still kind
of digesting it. I need to lesten to it, maybe a dozen more times, before any kind of
thought about it arrives. But for now, let's just say that was a happy experience to
even hear it once (oh yes, I had the b**t, but this new CD is worlds better).

Where is THE LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER ? That one needs to be released to complete Goldsmith's work at Universal in the early 60's.

I agree, where is LIST OF ADRIAN MESSENGER? C'mon Varese, give it up.

I am baffled by the fact that the Varese CD of this beautiful score failed to fly off their shelves.
Even at a sale price of $13.99, the pony is still sitting there. I find it amazing that a score this good has not appealed to the masses???????????????

I played this one today, I almost forgot how beautiful this score is. Intimate, soothing, sensitive and playful. One of his best. And sound quality is superb. I love this Goldsmith treasure.
