How funny that I came to post about the possibility of more Alias score being released and my wise friend Redokt64 beat me to it by about 10 months. Strangely, though, no one else has posted in this thread. Surely there are other Giacchino Alias fans, yes? I did read the couple of other threads on this topic, but they were short threads, and I've always found Giacchino Alias fans to either be a very quiet bunch or a nonexistent bunch. Anyway I do think that Varese should complete their Alias line. They already started it, and they have enjoyed tremendous success with the Lost scores, not to mention the ongoing Fringe scores. As Giacchino continues to impress with each new project it makes sense, conceptually, that people would be clamoring for the Alias scores. I might have heard a few complaints about the somewhat-dated sounding electronics and techno work -- although that aspect is one of my favorites about the scores -- so maybe that puts people off. Anyways, VARESE SARABANDE, please consider it? I know, there are financial and/or Disney obstacles, but...

I just recently watched this whole series thanks to a friend at work who lent me all 5 seasons. I found that Giacchino's music gets better and better as the season's progress. (I felt that the series itself kinda peeked halfway through season 2, tho the other seasons are enjoyable.) A release of more music would be welcome.

It's been asked multiple times before, and Chris Tilton has chimed in saying that it'll probably never happen due to lack of demand. So when 5 people reply to a thread from January, that's not exactly showcasing the demand E-mail Varese themselves, might have a better shot. You're right, this thread resurrection is probably not going to actually convince anyone to release future Alias music (unfortunately), but I really don't understand why there is such a lack of demand, mainly for the reasons in my post above. I suppose I could see how the tone of Lost music would be more broadly appealing, but I do think people underestimate just how much thematic variation and structure actually exists in the Alias scores, not to mention extremely emotive and passionate writing, more surprising as Giacchino was brand new on the scene. Those not interested in later seasons of Alias music being released due to their disdain for the early seasons' heavy techno/electro approach should be reminded that the techno/electro aspect of the show's music largely subsided by the middle of the show's run, and you can even hear a notable drop-off of synths even in the Season 2 CD release. Also, I know that Lost was a more popular show, bringing in crossover fans who wouldn't ordinarily go after score releases, so maybe that has something to do with it? Not to mention that Alias's ratings declined as the 5 seasons ran on... Like Giacchino-fan, I think a limited run of 1000 would be a good idea and basically, although I could understand why a label wouldn't want to do that due to perceived (actual?) lack of interest on the fans'/listeners' part, it is still quite surprising to me. I'd be curious to hear others' opinions as to why Giacchino fans (particularly those who helped with the sales of the Lost CD releases) wouldn't be on board for further Alias music, aside from any ideas presented above.

How much music did Giacchino actually do for Season 3-5? It was my impression that Tilton did most if not all. I love Tilton's work but think that if true, that may be the hold up. CD release by Giacchino would sell better than a CD release by Tilton. No disrespect intended if you read this Chris. I am a huge fan.

Seasons 4 and 5 were my favorite scores of the whole series, so I really hope somebody is able to release them! I know Mr. Tilton has said Varese won't do it because there isn't enough interest, and with the show being off the year for over 5 years now I can't blame them for choosing to focus on other projects instead. However, La-La Land Records has seen success with releasing scores to older TV shows (X-Files, Millenium, Space AAB, Young Riders, Harsh Realm, Lone Gunmen).... so hopefully they can pick up the ball and release some of those later season scores! They seem to have a good relationship with Giacchino and Tilton after releasing the scores to Secret Weapons and the Medal of Honor box!

Well, many of those TV show releases weren't exactly what might be called successful. I certainly hope Alias is coming sooner of later from someone as the Alias music is much worthier release than most of the recent TV music releases, which has received number of boxsets. A shot at the ST:TNG boxsets? If so, I have to agree. I never thought TNG music could hold a candle to TOS. Works in the show for the most part but I find that it tends to drone on and on as a separate listening experience. Goldsmith excluded, of course. I'm all in for an ALIAS box set! If would be a wonderful way to listen to how Giacchino grows as a composer!

Been a while since I brought this up... The last couple of days I have been revisiting the score releases for LOST on Varese Sarabande. At times epic, while at others, simplistic and beautiful. Such rich and rewarding music for this great show. While doing my LOST-a-thon... I cannot help but think of how great it would be to have one more release of ALIAS music. Perhaps a 2 cd set? Like I have said before, and many others have agreed, the music really grew as the series went on. Though many think the show lost it's way during the third season, I loved it. The music became richer and more expansive as the series went on. When season 4 hit, the theme got a make-over (by JJ Abrams) and the scoring became even more intense (as Sydney's treacherous Aunt Elena showed up). As the series came to a close (a short, but terrific season with several new additions to the cast) the music was at it's finest. Themes associated with Arvin Sloane became more mystical and haunting. Rachel (Rachel Nichols) and Kelly (Amy Acker) had some knockout music moments during their storylines. As the series came to it's tragic (many main characters did not make it) end, the score was flat out spectacular. Five years worth of material was incorporated in those final two hours. Yes, I love the series and the scores it had. Though many could not stand the techno feel the scores had during the first season... by the end, not there. Thematic and wonderful music.
