Nice to see Kritzerland further expanding the range. A fitting time to release Gorky Park, hot off the heals of Intrada's 48Hrs and the connection between that particular Horner sound from the early 80's. Hope it's expanded. I love 80's Horner. :-)

Not expanded, unfortunately. The album master is all that remains.

However, I believe the track sequencing has been shuffled around a bit to reflect film order, and it's also remastered. Bruce can correct me if I'm wrong.

Two presentations of the score - film order and album order - plus improved sound.

Glad to see you putting out a Horner score! Look forward to the new presentation. Hope masters for Brainstorm didn't meet the same fate. Both Gorky and Brain were from MGM and 1983

I´d much rather welcome something like THE HAND if there are any elements left, but still can´t wait to get improved Gorky Park as well... smile

sure a nice thing, but is it really necessary?

like Lokutus said THE HAND would be awesome. If not only because it's unreleased so far.

Hmmmmm.

Not sure about this. The Varese album plays perfectly. Perfect sequence. Great sound too. Very natural. Not sure how it can be improved.

This is a very welcome release for anybody that doesn't already have it, but without the allure of extra music (and yes, there's at least one unreleased cue that is AWESOME) I reckon I'll be passing. 2011 is a year of sensible buying for me. The glory days had to end some time I guess.

It's a tremendous score though! If you don't have it, pick it up...

The Hand would be fab!

By chance, I just put the Varese album on ten minutes ago.

Great. Will be limited or not? What number?

I don't have the Varese CD (I'm only a young'un!), saw the film for the first time last year, loved the score and am tremendously excited about this one!. Huzzah Bruce!

I'm wondering what those two Paramount titles are, but I can't blame Bruce for not wanting to talk about them if they're still a couple of months away.

For me, yes; I've never owned the Varese album, and I will gladly pick this up. Horner's among my favorites. smile

Great. Will be limited or not? What number?

I assume it's the standard 1000 units that Kritzerland usually goes with.

What about the artwork?

The TER LP had an alternate cover that I really loved. Minimalist but very nice. Plus, it had some great liner notes.

Cheers!

Interesting, and I'm always up for more Horner, but without extra music and in a tight wallet time I'm going to have to stick with my old Varese. Good on Kritzerland for making it available again, though smile

I already have the old, now very old, Varese edition SO I will grab Kritzerland's edition for sure.
In do like Bruce's touch.

The other day I was wondering which label would do BRAINSTORM - now I have a pretty good idea.

This is my favorite of Horner in this style -- "48 HRS" doesn't do much for me, "Red Heat" bores me, and I can't listen to the chaos of "Commando," but "Gorky Park" is exciting and terrific. I already have the CD (and doubt the sound improvement is going to be worth it to me), but I'd advise others to pounce.

Yes, this will be 1000 units. Those who've purchased redos on other CDs we've issued (some for their third go-round) know that when I say improved sound that that means something. In other words, the people who had Casino Royale in its other two releases and were fine with that sound, really missed out on something special. Same with several others where we were able to help the sound. I know that doesn't mean anything to some people and it does to others - so if you're happy with the Varese then that should do you fine. For me, the chance to get this in film order and LP order and improve the sound was irresistible.
