According to The Screen Archives Website, Ennio Morricone's 'Cinema Paradiso' (Nuovo) is being released soon and is touted as 'Complete'. I have the very first issue of this cd from the 80's (I think it was?), there's a beautiful main theme throughout, but I'm just wondering how much music is new on this that was left out of the old one? Vital stuff, or just odds and ends that don't really matter? Another question, just how close to getting nominated was this Morricone score? Was it even submitted in it's year? Thanks.

This new release is actually a re-release of GDM's previous 23 track edition (2003). As far as I remember, it's simply more variations of the existing themes. Morricone himself repeatedly stated he detested the expanded release and thinks the original release was fine.

I bought the expanded version in 2003 nevertheless and I don't regret it. But yes, there is nothing new in it.

Expanded release is still not complete though. There are versions of at least two of the themes that are in the film and not on the CD[ and vice versa].

Since I don't yet own the CD, this will be a great way to introduce it into my Morricone collection.

Does the original release include the same error, which is included at least in the GDM CLUB 7098 track 7 at 0:35?
