If someone out there has both CD copies, is their any discernible difference in sound quality between the original 1994 version and the 2000 'Collectibles' reissue. The reason I ask is that the 1994 version credits the remastering whereas the reissue doesn't. To clarify, I'm not talking about the 2-CD 'collectors' edition, only the single disc versions.
I have both. So one thing that I can confirm is that the 1-disc version has the original tracks, while the 2-disc version has different renditions of some of them (it's been donkey's years since I've played them, so I'm not sure which ones). Also, I think that the 2-disc set is lacking some of the tracks that the single has. The one that comes to mind right now is the Takemitsu track.
One of the many things I'm thankful for about the original Cosmos is introducing me to Vangelis. Makes me want to dig out my LPs of Heaven and Hell, Albedo 0.39 & Spiral. As a start...
