I agree. I'd have thought Licence to Kill was far from the worst song in the Bond canon. Apart from Another Way to Die there's also Madonna's effort and probably others too....

If I had to choose, I would much rather listen to Another Way To Die, I actually find it a fairly enjoyable song, though in terms of the current era of Bond it ranks below You Know My Name and The World Is Not Enough...
Bond 77 is exactly that, and why I love it. The rest of score is OK by me, though not on Barry's level. Kamen and Serra made far suckier contributions to the series in my view. Legrand, too, but he's been kicked around enough for it.
Nodody Does it Better may be the 2nd or 3rd best "Bond" song but it is by far the best song to ever be featured in a Bond film.

Another Way To Die is the worst followed closely by Madonna's song for Die Another Day. I would like to have a complete original score CD. It would be interesting to hear. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME was my first movie "SCORE" so to speak even though it was a re-recording. I had the 8 track tape when I was in elementry school. Fourth grade I think. I don't think a kid today would even know what a cassette tape is much less an 8 track. I guess I have to face facts, I am starting to get old.

If so, why not join force with our labels?! I think that Disney isn't disappointed in their co-operation with Intrada... This will be fair for all - Bond fans will finally get music that they want (not only TSHLM), EMI will get more $ without big costs - Intrada or LLL (please, not Varese! ) will mix all elements, and covers will have all notes about EMI... Maybe someone can explain it that in next 5-15 years there will be not so many fans for old Bond scores - so they simply lose their tapes and money!
Unfortunately,EMI has not produced an expanded version of TSWLM for the 50th anniversary and so the chances of it happening any time in the near future must be remote.
THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is my absolute favorite non Barry Bond score (although I haven`t listened to Newman`s new score of course). I just love the disco flavor combined with the Barry touch. I also love the Rozsaesque cues for the scene at the pyramids (THE PYRAMIDS and CONCLUSION) and NOBODY DOES IT BETTER is of course one of the best bond songs ever fantastically performed by the wonderful Carly Simon. And the film is a lot of fun too with Curt Jurgens giving a wonderful camp performance. And Barbara Bach is super sexy. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is my number one choice for a complete original score release.
Just listening to the CD now - whilst I love the album re-recording I would buy the proper film score release in a nano second! Great fun. It's become a tradition of mine to watch this film every Christmas, since it was first aired on ITV here in the UK in the early 80s, so it's in my mind at the moment.

I know this post was from last spring, but in case you're still wondering, MV mentioned that Eon is what's holding up Bond scores from being expanded. This would seem to imply that either LLL has looked into expanding the scores themselves or that they know of another label that has recently looked into expanding them. Either way, that was the latest word as far as I know.
