Ive bumped henry's thread as this score was one of Gianna Spagnuolo's most notable and she did a hell of a lot of demanding studio work on this project. We have rather belatedly had the sad news that Gianna passed away in 2017, aged 79. There is an RIP thread on the other side of the forum.
MOSES THE LAWGIVER is among my all time favorite film scores, perhaps my favorite Morricone score. At least ever since I heard the full score on the 2CD set, which allowed for much more room for Morricone's modernist soundscapes to contrast with his more tonal themes. Film music just does not get any better.
Thanks Bill, did not know she passed. This was THE GOOD BAD AND THE UGLY and NAVAJO JOE lady. For years I thought Edda had done this work but it was this little lady who also made a living singing the Italian voices for Disney features.
No worries Henry. Its sad news i didnt want to hear.. a very nice lady. As a little girl aged about 7 she used to ride her bike past the conservatory and was transfixed by the incredible voices and opera sounds she heard emanating from inside. It was this that began her passion for singing.
Edda did Ecstasy main soprano but Gianna did the short bridge in the middle. She did contribute some of the more screaming parts of ay-ee-ay-ee-ay but this was also done by falsetto Franco Cosacchi. When i saw her in Castelfranco she was singing parts for Alessandroni's orchestra for GBU main title that she didnt sing for Ennio. In concert she also did a fantastic version of Duck you sucker - (sean sean sean) - so good there was not much to choose from edda's version.
Somewhere, i cant find the thread, but you, i think, rightly identified her as doing the indian-style singing in the Hills Run Red too.
