Has anybody ever gotten a good explanation from those in the know as to why a cd of this music is not happening or why it might be an unlikely project? Are tapes available or not? Or is it because the potential customer base is slowly fading away? I cite MV from La La Land Records: "We try it." Well, they try it since 2015, the first time I asked for a "Rockford Files" Box set. The problem is: Universal is difficult to get along with, especially in their TV-music department. The worst case is: the music Mike Post & Pete Carpenter did for the Universal shows are ended up in smoke during the 2008's Universal studio fire (it is not confirmed, but a huge amount of Movie- & TV-music had been definitely destroyed). I wrote down every music cue a few years ago: the complete Rockford TV-score would fill approx. 10 CDs (without the movies).

It's not just this show; there hasn't been a release of the original scoring from any series Post/Carpenter (or Post alone) have worked on.

Unfortunately at least we can forget "Hardcastle & McCormick", "Riptide" & "Hunter", because the copyrights are now Disney's, I think. My hope is still Universal's and LLL's heritage project, so that we can maybe have someday a 4 - 6 CD-Box set with "Rockford", "Magnum", "A-Team" and "Airwolf".

Is The Rockford Files the only tv show where the harmonica is often the lead instrument? I'm coming in a little late with this, but CHINA BEACH (1988-1991) very often had harmonica solos in its episode scores. Good stuff too, if you like beautiful, sad strains of Americana.
