First off I am ecstatic with the track list to volume 1. I think I, more than others, had my needs catered to. So this is by no means any sort of criticism. But, we knew this thread would happen sooner or later so why not now. I really didn't participate in the music request threads previously, have no idea why, but this morning with the announcement of the official track list, my head is swimming with great X-files music for possible inclusion in the future, and I don't want to forget it.

Redux II (the scene with mulder by scully's hospital bed late at night and frankly the only real surprise omission on volume one)

Herrenvolk (the opening chase through the warehouse, like 5 minutes with no dialogue and a great one)

Biogenesis (the end scene with the reveal of the spacecraft)

Grotesque (certainly agree with other requests here where mulder is walking down those dark alleys to the bass hits of the piano)

Small Potatoes (lots of great stuff here, where mulder is trapped down in the storage locker and especially the end where scully has to raise his spirits for being no eddie van blunht.

Deep Throat (some of that wonderfully dated music in the bar scenes)

Young at Heart (this along with Die Hand Die Verletzt have some pretty great choral stuff a la Goldsmith's the omen. any of that would be fantastic)

End Game (the opening montage which actually recaps the previous episode and goes into the submarine scene I believe has original music to it. for some reason this recap made the dvds whereas others later on were dropped completely. the music here is stellar!)

Paper Clip (the scene where mulder is chased down by the hit squad. some of snow's best)

Talitha Cumi (this might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's a thoroughly interesting piece of music where mulder is searching his parents' summer home. there are whispers and stuff incorporated into the music and it's very effective.)

Tunguska/Terma (i just remember these episodes having a very distinct theme in them, be great to have it)

Never Again (this has some very neat contemo stuff throughout, mostly as the camera sweeps down dark hallways, kind of a departure from the signature x files sound.)

Momento Mori (beautiful piano work at the end where mulder comes to see scully in the hospital and convinces her to come back to work)

The Pine Bluff Variant (the opening sequence where they set up the sting in the park. that whole thing is very well done and snow has a wonderful, tension building little theme at work.)

Trust No 1 (kind of a cheesy episode no doubt but a lot of great piano work in there)

well that's well on it's way to filling up an entire volume right there. certainly hope this sells out, and fast, to justify another multi-discer!

Don't be greedy. razz

ALIAS next or at least similar box set presentation of SCREAM trilogy scores is much more deserved than more of the same.

Methinks it's just a little soon for this. Let LLL and others enjoy the fact that Volume 1 has been released for a little while before clamoring for the next volume, eh? When someone has a baby, are you already wondering if the next baby will be a boy or a girl before the doctor has wiped the goop off the baby that just popped out? smile

Well its not helped by MV saying that vol 2 was already in the works for release in 2012 smile

I'd lie if I'd say I hadn't thought of a thread like this...

Good list! There's one or two things from that that I'll have to add to mine.

I had done something similar some two years ago when what has become Volume 1 was announced. I compiled this while I was re-watching the series, but I'm sure there's plenty I missed.
http://www.eatthecorn.com/dossiers/mmc.htm

This list has now to be re-worked in order to remove the tracks present in Vol.1 and add all the suggestions from here and elsewhere. I have some new ideas I'll post later.

I also suggest you check out Snow TraX:
http://itunes.apple.com/podcast/snow-trax-x-files/id408393552

PS: Thank you once more La La Land! That cannot be stressed enough. Don't misunderstand, we're just excited!

was lone gunmen on ice from apocrypha original? it's used almost as source music but remembered it instantly once i read it on your list. a strange but memorable little piece.

I appreciate this thread. It will really help us on Volume 2. My first pass on this set about 18 months turned out to be 16 discs! Second pass was 10. lol

Most of those episodes listed above were on this 4 disc set at one point, but like a puzzle, we had to try and move the pieces all around until it fit perfectly for this volume.

Here is an example: Redux II made the last to final cut, but it did not make sense to have Redux II on this volume and Redux I on Volume 2, so both went to be used on Volume 2.

This Volume is certainly heavier on themes and melody.... the pretty stuff. Volume 2 will feature more of the action and suspense music... Gothic chanting and spine tingling tunes.

Thanks for the info MV - I'm still holding out hope to hear a particular track from 'Fallen Angel' - the scene where the soldiers are hunting the invisible alien and get flash-fried. Whether it be on vol. 2 or any other future volumes will make me even happier than I am now (knowing that my vol. 1 is on the way). Thanks to you, Mark Snow and everyone else involved for making a lot of X-Philes happy.

Hey MV,
First of all - massive thanks for the first release. Others have identified a number of wonderful episodes, but I would really really love it if you could include a couple of minutes of music from Invocation (Season 8) on the second volume. Mr. Snow came up with an incredibly haunting version of "all the pretty horses" which I would dearly love to get dialogue free.

Cheers,

Chris.

Apart from Grotesque (which I've mentioned previously and has already been listed here), I'd like a track or two from Synchrony. Quite a simple effective score.

Great MV! Can't wait to get my copy of the first volume, but I would love to hear some tracks from some episodes on the second:

- Ghost In the Machine (the electronics still sound really good and creepy)
- Eve (when Mulder and Scully are with the girls in the car)
- Never Again (my all-time favourite score of the show! Love every part of it!)
- Memento Mori (very moving piano theme)
- Die Hand Die Verlezt (for the omenesque chants)

And more that's for sure but I would be so glad to hear these ones! Hope they'll be included on the next volume!

foxmorty selected most of the episodes that I would like to see on the next volume. I would like to hear some of the scores from Essence and Existence on the next volume too! Not to be a pest but I hope the next volume has the season 9 main title. smile

Congrats on the volume 1 release! I know I will enjoy it. smile

I second this, I was hoping for it to be on the first volume.

I don't see anything wrong with starting the requests this soon, I'm sure la la land appreciates anything x-files being discussed as it only contributes to hyping the x-files release smile Plus we are aware the next volume is for next year.

if memory serve me they did 3 x-files specials: secrets of the x-files, more secrets of the x-files and inside the x-files. i think the first one, secrets, aired right at the end of season 2 to prepare people for the finale (anasazi). i remember that special having cool music, especially it's little main title sequence. did snow do that? was that reused from show. i have some vague recollection that it was a pretty cool piece.

here's a link to this wacky thing. i dig it.
