Quick question?

Is a CD-R on demand soundtrack (i.e. Karate Kid, Salt, Priest) a lossless recording?

Or is it the MP3 just put on a CD and given a jewel case and artwork?

If I downloaded one of those scores and burned it to a CD at my house using my regular computer (a.k.a., nothing fancy), would I have the same quality CD as a CD-R on demand (minus the artwork, obviously)?

Any thoughts would be great!!!

The ones from Amazon are apparently from a lossless source.

Through manufacturing on demand, CreateSpace, part of the Amazon.com group of companies, enables Amazon.com to offer music and video content that might not otherwise be available. Each disc comes fully packaged, with artwork, in a standard jewel case for audio and an Amaray case for video, although for reissued products the artwork may differ from the original.

CreateSpace works with many of the leading music labels, television networks, film studios, and other distributors to make these titles available to Amazon.com customers. All products are manufactured from original source materials (e.g., for audio products, uncompressed CD-quality audio).

Well, I guess that settles it!

Thank you very much; I really appreciate the link!

Well...whatever that really means. They could keep FLAC files on their servers instead of .CDA files.
I hope it means they use isos of fully mastered albums, or at least keep .wav files on hand to poll from.
'CD-quality' can be a pretty loose term.

The on-demand CD's I've gotten from Amazon so far ( including The Karate Kid, Salt, The Expendables ) all sound fabulous. They sound perfect to my ears

Look! Here's one of those hilarious spectro-sound-analysis-whatsis things to back me up !

A few I've bought from ArkivMusic are bit-identical to the pressed CDs according to AccurateRip.
