Ladies, Gentlemen, SIS, and Tom Wopat! It is a dark time for the pitiful little band we know as - taxpayers! I've been struggling (as many out there have been) with getting these income taxes done. I determined that I owe Uncle Sam $171 and the state of New Jersey owes me $185. So, I have $14 coming to me so that I purchase a new CD. As a result of these taxes, I have resorted to apoplectic fits of Newman's Own Medium Garlic Salsa, Shoprite Reduced Fat Wheat Thins, and Quaker Apple Cinnamon Mini Rice Cakes. Tangient with the coefficient equivalent of Gulden's Spicey Brown mustard on turkey/fat free cheese and Arnold Light Oatmeal bread, I have set out on a quest to find some new CD's to buy. I have been listening to the STAR WARS ATTACK OF THE CLONES score (Complete with a purported Bonus Track) and must say that my initial reaction of "This blows" was a mistake. I find myself playing the cd over and over again and while it may not be the most groundbreaking, there is something about it that keeps me engaged, but I can't articulate what it is. It appears as though something is stirring (As Hal Holbrook so brilliantly uttered in MIDWAY). Williams approach to this trilogy has never become more apparent to me now than by listening to this score. This trilogy musically(thus far)seems to be more moody and less romantic sounding than the originally trilogy (which many of us grew up and appreciated). And this is a good thing because I think this trilogy (in a nuteshell) is the darker set-up for Episodes IV, V, and VI. When I complained about the Main Title not sounding as rich or powerful, lacking some orchestration at times (Just listen to the SW, EMPIRE, or ROTJ Main Title and there seems to be more going on behind the melody line than in TPM or AOTC). But I think I understand where Williams was going with this (Now that I've listened to AOTC a hundred times) and it makes sense to me, even though my brain was craving something else. That's ok. Anyway, I thought I'd shoot off that one. Also, I picked up the SACD 5.1 Goldsmith Christus Apollo CD and let me tell you. If you haven't picked up an SACD player, make sure you get that written in, on you birthday or Christmas list. The sound is phenomenal. I put a pair of blinders on and I'd swear Anthony Hopkins was standing right in front of me narrating. The sound was very directional - crisp does not even begin to describe it. Anyway, I have to get back to something mundane like work. It's really interfering with the rest of my life. Tomorrow night, everyone is invited to join me and ANZALDIMAN at The Hearth in Clifton as we kick off the 1st annual Conrad Bain Film Festival. Regretfully, Mr. Bain could not attend so we were able to get Larry Storch to show up to the local VFW hall and say a few words. Pizza and beer will be served. Truly Gau Jus Ed

Ed, How about moving up that Robert Conrad/Paul Mantee/Bert Convy film festival!! Unfortunately, Mr. Convy can not attend,he's dead, but his family has offered some old clips of "Tattletales" to fill the bill..By the way, Agarn (uh, Larry Storch) sent his regards when I saw him at the bar in the VFW hall drinking his Schlitz..Nice plaid pants he had too! I asked where I could get a pair, and he said, "Jeez, these??? You can't get these anymore!! They're from the Johnny Carson collection from 72', When quality was king!!"
