That's Elfman's music being used, and I love it! Funny about those marimba riffs at the end, slightly reminiscent of Orff's ubiquitous "Musica Poetica", used so well in BADLANDS (and an inspiration for Zimmer's TRUE ROMANCE).
If that is in fact a snippet of Elfman's score, I'm very excited for it (then again I'd be excited anyway). Looks like an opportunity to play in the kind of film Tom Newman used to get all the time.
The film looks pretty good too (especially Mia's hairdo ).
Elfman already played around with some Newman-isms in MILK and THE NEXT THREE DAYS. Could be really cool. But then again I'm excited for anything the guy's doing (yeah, even REAL STEEL).

The most Newman-inspired score on his resume is A SIMPLE PLAN. Perhaps a little bit in MILK; but I don't hear much in TNTD.
I want to hear this too. like Elfman when he's laid back more than his percussion heavy action stuff. the trailer looks like it calls for a somber type of score which he's great at
Looks like this may be the first unreleased Elfman score since Nacho Libre in '06. Too bad; a soft drama score would be an interesting change from the blockbusters on his plate in the near future.
Hopefully someone will step up to the plate and release it late a la "Taking Woodstock."
He also scored Notorious a few years back, which didn't get a full score release (not sure how much music he wrote for the film cos I've never seen it). Like Nacho, the song CD only features one short score track by Elfman. Shame about this new Van Sant film not getting a release thus far, but who knows what the future holds and I suspect it will surface regardless in the usual areas from the usual suspects.

I've seen NOTORIOUS and it features very little Elfman music. The suite is quite representative, actually.
As for NACHO, a promo was released that contains most of the music.
Well, I've been listening to the LaLaLand CD almost non-stop since I got it. It's so good! Exactly the kind of music (and Elfman) I prefer these days -- mellow, slightly minimalistic, soothing, interesting. Ya gotta dig the Orff/Gassenhauer-feel of "Meet the Parents" -- Elfman has always loved the marimba and here he can take it all out.
I don't know if it's C&C or not, but if it is, it's one of those rare instances where that presentation works very well.
Yes, I thought this was quite a nice score - Elfman stretching his legs a bit in what is not a typical Elfman mode of late. Definitely worth a buy if anyone is on the fence.
