Man, I just bought the FSM release of the Egyptian 3 or 4 weeks ago when it was on sale at SAE (for $9.95). Too soon to buy another one!

I bought the FSM on sale too...it's still sealed though, I didn't get around to opening it. I guess I can trade it in for store credit at the used record shop. Buying the Varese now.

Ordered both of them! I have the FSM and the Stromberg re-recording of "The Egyptian" but this looks to be a fantastic release. I got the FSM version years and years ago when it was first released so I don't feel so bad about buying it again.

I'm also excited about "Devil" since I love Velasquez's work. I have his scores for "The Orphanage" and "Shiver".

I wonder how long these will last?

Cheers!
Harry

Never expected even more music from THE EGYPTIAN. What a great release for one of the most brilliant scores of all time.

This is an expensive EGYPTIAN month - what with this and the Blu-ray disc!

Looks like a great release, but as I said, I'll pass (it will all be on the Blu-ray & DVD). This is good news for fans of 50's Fox soundtracks, makes you wonder what other stuff they've found.

I wonder what will sell out first, the Blu-ray (3000) or the new expanded score (1500). When FSM released the soundtrack all those years ago, I thought it would sell out in a month!

A shame we didn't get a re-release of The Towering Inferno & The Sand Pebbles soundtracks when the Blu-rays were released.

I don't know, another Egyptian? I already have the FSM release which I am very happy with and the Stromberg release as well which is excellent. I was expecting something mind-blowing. Varese sometimes seems evasive and brief.

"...for the very first time, we are thrilled to present the complete score from The Egyptian, adding more than 30:00 of previously-believed-lost music plus a selection of never -before-heard alternate cue variations. Taking advantage of both new mixing technologies and also a newly discovered source for the original music masters, we now have an Egyptian for the ages."

What is this "newly discovered source for the original music masters"?

Interesting this will be released to the public on Blu-ray with an isolated score track.

I was thinking the same. That would be my third copy. Oh boy!

On the other hand, DEVIL is mine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well personally I'm not that interested in the Blu-ray and I prefer to have this score on CD anyway. I am also a bit weary of picking an isolated track over a produced album. The samples sound great.

Hooray! I was really hoping Devil would be in there! Hopefully this will get Velazquez on some more temp tracks and he'll get some major assignments! Not that I'm not enjoying his Spanish film work.

After listening to the DEVIL samples, I can now see what all the buzz was about regarding that score!

Love THE EGYPTIAN.

Can't get enough of THE EGYPTIAN.

If they bring out another release, which includes another 10 "newly discovered" minutes of music, I'll buy that.

One of my favorite movies. One of my Top Ten Scores of All Time.

Just love THE EGYPTIAN.

(As Mae Questal says in A MAJORITY OF ONE: "Got the monkey on my back.")

Ah, The Egyptian! Probably my favorite score for a film I've never seen. I bought the FSM CD long ago, got Demetrius and the Gladiators with the corrected Hymn to Aton, and picked up the Morgan and Stromberg re-recording (with King Kong, this is their best work). I cherish all of these purchases and love to hunker down and listen when I get a chance.

None of this stopped me from placing my order. Very cool Varese. :-)
