So.. Has there been any official word on wether the Main title on the LP is a re-recording, or the actual film take with a different mix? Reading through all the different Inferno threads there seems to be so many different opinions on available elements and mixes. I don't think there is another score out there where a particular cue varies so much performance wise from film to album apart from obvious scores that are re-recorded.

The booklet that accompanies the FSM release states that the soundtrack LP was not a re-recording.

I also love this main title as well. It's perfection all the way through. I listen to it it A LOT!!

From when I first got the original album back in the late 70's through to the release of La La Lands wonderful Disaster Collection box set I can now confirm the Main Title is arguably my most repeatedly listened to track ever!

The Poseidon Adventure is my favorite moment from The Towereing Inferno.
