I regret to inform the members of the board who may not have known that Cindy passed away on June 30 of this year. I know she had many friends here. I was not in touch with Cindy for many years and was just recently informed of her passing by her neighbors who are customers of mine. She was a devoted mother who always put her children first above all else. May she Rest In Peace.
I was thinking about her and wondering if anyone has heard how she is doing?
She was always a friendly and warm asset to the Message Board
and I miss her posts and always pleasant and positive contributions.
Anyone have an update or news on CAT?
Hope she's well and doing great.
Thanks,
Zoob
Weird... Just a few nights ago I came across a letter she sent me 14 years ago with some pictures enclosed, and I was wondering what happened to her... now we know.
Very sorry to hear this. I didn't even know she was ill. She hadn't posted on this board for YEARS, though, so obviously something was up. My condolences to friends and family.
It is sad to think about how many members have passed away and no one as an idea.
Well, I have tried to keep this thread as a way to remember the FSMers who have passed away over the years. It's a rather 'morbid' list to update, for sure, but I've added CAT's name to the list:
I regret to inform the members of the board who may not have known that Cindy passed away on June 30 of this year. I know she had many friends here. I was not in touch with Cindy for many years and was just recently informed of her passing by her neighbors who are customers of mine. Sad to hear this. She was a regular here for many years. I seem to recall that she stopped posting due to health reasons. Condolences to family and friends.
Very sad news indeed. Cindy was a kind and clever person who wasn’t afraid to laugh at herself. We exchanged many emails, letters and “care packages”. She sent me a Steelers t-shirt (and a Home Depot one!) and I sent her a Leeds United shirt. She sent me Herschey bars and I paid her back in Yorkshire Tea. She sent me Rozsa and I sent her Shostakovich.
We spoke on the phone once for over an hour (my tab!) and her accent wasn’t the Noo Joisey that she’d always played up to. And she out-limericked me!
Cindy went to a Morricone concert in NY at a time when I despaired of ever getting to one, and she sent me a programme from it. She said that she’d seen it abandoned on a chair while they were all filing out and she had to fight another lady for it! Doesn’t matter if it wasn’t strictly true, it made me laugh. And she’d send me photos of her lovely family (and her house, which seemed to flood almost every year) and I’d send ones back of our ragamuffins.
I had an address for her in Florida and would send Christmas cards every year with a little update, never knowing if she got them. I hope she did, and I hope she knew that there was someone in England thinking about her.
Just seeing this now. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. She was always wonderful on the board and always encouraging and positive. My sincere condolences to her family and friends. Wow, I wrote my initial post 7 years ago asking about her. Rest in Peace Cat, you were a wonderful FSM Friend. Will remember you fondly,
There are so many of us who had wonderful exchanges with Cindy/CAT on the FSM Board over the years. Her posts were not only great fun to read, but also well-observed where necessary.
It was a very different kind of FSM community then---a "Golden Age" perhaps?
(I'm stunned that it was so relatively long ago that CAT left the board......it seems like yesterday her good humor and attitude were on the site nearly every day.)
It's truly difficult to hear of Cindy's passing and I send sympathies to her family.
Oh... very sad news. I don't think I had ever any personal contact with her, but of course I remember her as a valuable contributor to this Message Board. My condolences to the family.
CAT was a popular regular here when I first got here 15(!) years ago. I was highly amused at her "outrage" in a silly topic I started about Strawberries (which Tall Guy now remembers well)...CAT had a great sense of humor, and of course a keen appreciation for film music. I'd always hoped that she would recover completely fom her illness (a stroke, IIRC), but she only chimed in a handful of times after that.
It's a bit of a shock, even though I never met her or even corresponded with her. Still, I just checked some of her posts (by clicking on her name under "Users), and yes indeed, what a lovely breath of fresh air she was. And extremely poignant to see that she had already posted about other dearly departed members on Thor's relevant thread.
P.S. - I see that on Anzaldiman's "Obituaries" link, someone has mentioned this thread.
