Children, I just want to day that I love you even if we can't have Christmas/pay the rent/eat this year because all the soundtrack labels go together to take all of daddy's money in August... ;-)
Has there ever been a better time to be a fan of film music?
Never missed a Johnny Williams issue! Besides that was an amazing funny movie (titled "Due assi nella manica" here, with Virna Lisi and not, ehm, Virna Lisa.
Unsurprisingly, I'm content with the old LP program. Besides, there wasn't much more in the film that wasn't already on the previous release and that was worthwhile. IMHO, of course.
I rather hope we get to see some more unreleased scores rather than expansions of existing ones -- as long as the source material exists, of course, as well as having the rights issues cleared. I know it's a difficult game sometimes.
I've just received this today and it's fantastic! Played it non-stop for a couple of hours! Some of the music reminds me of his music for "Hook"; almost like "When You're Alone" was begun here and then completed for "Hook". Thank you so much for this awesome release!
I'm with Darthcubby on this one. Mine arrived this week and it is pretty fantastic, I must say. It is always fun to pick out motifs in these Johnny scores that seem to foreshadow his later classics, and there are a few really good ones in this score.
I've been really digging my copy too. This is more like it. The original LP was okay, but not really much more than a lightweight collection of pop and source cues. This one has got lots of great proper score tracks in John Williams' inimitable style. Agree about the Hook connections, plus I've also heard lots of Towering Inferno and 1941 -isms. Big thumbs up from me on this one too! Great 60's John Williams fun!
I luv em' both. The LP re-recording is what I've been used to for many years now, but the original film tracks is a whole nother take on the music. For me, it's like getting 2 different Johnny William's versions of the same score. I'm really glad to have both. Thank you FSM.
