After going through the STAR TREK: ORIGINAL SERIES box set, I've just picked up on how similar Fred Steiner's "Baby Balok" cue from "The Corbomite Maneuver" is to the tender "Robot Dad/ Unsuspecting Son" bits from THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORK. I think we sometimes underestimate Fred Steiner's contribution to COLOSSUS. It's still a Van Cleave score to me, but that piece in particular sounds very Baby Balok.
