Here at the triple "L" we are very excited about next Tuesday 'cus we get to unleash not one, but TWO scores by two of our favorite composers!

First up:

1941 EXPANDED -- 2 Disc set
Music by John Williams
LLLCD 1179
Limited Edition of 3500 units
Retail Price: $29.98

Produced and assembled by Mike Matessino
Produced for Sony Music by Didier C. Deutsch
Mastered by Mark Wilder at Battery Studios

La-La Land Records, in association with Sony Music and Universal Pictures, presents the remastered and expanded 2-CD SET of Academy Award-Winning composer John Williams’ (JAWS, BLACK SUNDAY, STAR WARS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK) amazing score to the 1979 Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures comedy spectacular 1941, starring Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John Belushi and Warren Oates, and directed by Steven Spielberg. Williams provides a delightful, full-on orchestra assault (featuring one of the most infectious marches ever written for film) to compliment this cult-classic’s slapstick tapestry of WWII-era paranoia exploding in Hollywood. This special release is expanded by more than 70 minutes with never-before-released music, including alternates and source cues. The original 1979 album presentation is also presented on disc 2, remastered. 1941 Re-issue producer Mike Matessino provides in-depth liner notes with new comments from the film’s co-writer, Bob Gale.

Next up:

THE CAPE -- 2 Disc set

The 16 page booklet is filled with comments by Bear and the show's creator, Tom Wheeler.

The first 150 people to purchase THE CAPE soundtrack via the La-La Land Records website will get their copy autographed by composer Bear McCreary.

See y'all back here next Tuesday, Sept 27 at 1 pm PST

How you can spell Aykroyd correctly but misspell Beatty and Oates is beyond me.

Obviously you're not familiar with Beatty & Oates' Philadelphia soul of the 1970's and 80's. I can't go for that (no can do).

What wonderful releases...McCreary is one of my favorite "next generation" composers - a real artist in an era sorely lacking in them. And in "1941," here comes one of those titles that I've been dreaming about seemingly forever (i.e. Christmas 1979). I still recall running straight from the cinema to the record store and not being able to get the original LP on the turntable fast enough. And the wonderful experience of adoring the album exactly as it was - while cringing with a bit of disappointment that some of my favorite sequences were excluded. Still, it's hard to believe how many incredible melodies, ideas and highlights made it onto the original, so an improved-sounding version of that classic LP is a cherished inclusion. Just can't wait! "Thank you" is not adequate.

Mr. Matessino already confirmed in an earlier thread that it does.

If you read carefully, you'll see the album version is included.

I ALWAYS have to look up how to spell Aykroyd, just to be sure.

John Williams is not my ALL TIME favorite composer (I like some scores, dislike others), but I will buy 1941 - I often heard that it is very interesting and excellent music.
This situation has happened last year when I have order Family plot, about which I heard many good words.
So I hope that I won't be disappointed with 1941!

Funny how I thought The Cape was going to be one of their San Diego Comic Con releases last summer but wasn't. And that 1941 was originally supposed to be one of their SDCC releases but wasn't of course. I just find that kind of funny that both are released on the same day. Great releases BTW. Eventhough I haven't seen both but can't go wrong with John Williams or Bear McCreary.
