La-La Land Records, in association with Sony Music and NBC Universal, presents the remastered and expanded 2-CD SET of Academy Award-Winning composer John Williams’ (JAWS, BLACK SUNDAY, STAR WARS, RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK) amazing score to the 1979 Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures comedy spectacular 1941, starring Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John Belushi and Warren Oates, and directed by Steven Spielberg. Williams provides a delightful, full-on orchestra assault (featuring one of the most infectious marches ever written for film) to compliment this cult-classic’s slapstick tapestry of WWII-era paranoia exploding in Hollywood. Produced by Mike Matessino, Didier C. Deutsch and Mark G. Wilder, remixed and assembled by Mike Matessino and mastered by Mark G. Wilder, this special release is expanded by more than 70 minutes with never-before-released music, including alternates and source cues. Music by Basil Poledouris

This unique score in Mr. Poledouris’ cannon, (his only true supernatural horror genre score), showcases the composer’s skill in crafting chilling, yet lush electronic soundscapes. His experimental music adeptly keys in on mood and technique over melody, giving this cult film layers of suspense and eroticism it wouldn’t otherwise have. Produced by Ford A. Thaxton and mastered by James Nelson, this special limited edition release features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by film music writer Randall D. Larson, which include comments from the film’s score mixer, Tim Boyle and director Janet Greek. This is a limited edition of 1200 units.

The title song performed by the incomparable Johnny Mathis is the icing on this velvety-rich cake. THE GOLDEN CHILD: LIMITED EDITION (3-CD SET) LLLCD 1180
Music Composed and Conducted by John Barry
Music Score by Michel Colombier
Limited Edition of 5000 Units

La-La Land Records presents, in association with Paramount Pictures and Capitol Records, the premiere release of both John Barry’s unused score and Michel Colombier’s score to the 1986 Paramount Pictures action/adventure motion picture THE GOLDEN CHILD, starring Eddie Murphy, Charlotte Lewis, Charles Dance and directed by Michael Ritchie. Mr. Barry’s (FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, BODY HEAT, A VIEW TO A KILL, DANCES WITH WOLVES) unused orchestral score is simply put, wondrous -- a powerful, majestic work brimming with action, suspense and romance that strongly recalls the recently departed composer’s 80s Bond period while still retaining its own robust identity. Composer Michel Colombier’s (RUTHLESS PEOPLE, THE MONEY PIT, AGAINST ALL ODDS) score, only a portion of which has been previously released, is finally given its proper due here as well, showcasing the composer’s knack for traditional action scoring blended with the era’s contemporary, synth-based pop sound. Produced by Lukas Kendall and mastered by Mike Matessino, this comprehensive 3-Disc collection of music contains additional unreleased Barry cues, including the unused song “Dance A Little Closer” performed by none other than Randy Edelman! Along with Barry’s “Best Man In The World,” performed by Ann Wilson of Heart fame, all songs featured on the original 1986 soundtrack album are presented here, including tracks from such artists as Ratt, Ashford & Simpson, Meli’sa Morgan and others. Film music writer Jon Burlingame takes you behind the film’s duo of scores in his exclusive liner notes. A must for film music fans, this limited edition release of 5000 units showcases the work of two brilliant composers who remain with us through the timelessness of their talent.

And... ordered. John Williams is a no-brainer (especially for a Spielberg movie) and Bear McCreary is one of the great young composers around. I added Eureka, Mars Attacks! and Seed of Chucky because they were so cheap.
Thanks, everyone at La-La Land big grin.

Interesting that they have a PDF of the musicians who performed the score on the LLL website. I was wondering why they weren't listed in the booklet

1941 is a lot of fun, and I can't wait to discover the complete score.
Just in case he had been asked to write something in a style that didn't appeal to me, I listened to a few bits of samples from The Cape and ordered it.

I remember that the original CD release of 1941 was sort of my first "Holy Grail", although I wouldn't have known the term back then. I loved the movie, loved the march on the Spielberg-Williams CD and wanted more! Special soundtracks were hard to come by in Germany back then, you had to either force a record shop employee to inspect many pages of computer-print outs to check if/which wholesale shop had the title in their programs.
Or perhaps it was already the time of the "Cinema Soundtrack Club", where you ordered by mail and then could easily wait a few weeks to months for elusive titles. But in the end I got it, and the short Varèse made it clear already that there's more to the music than just the march. I haven't listened to it for some time now, but even before seeing the mouth-watering pin-up shot of the set as posted above, I bought this in an instant. Now I'm very curious how my perception of this score will change with all the new material available.

Sorry, couldn't just type "ORDERED!"
