I have it on DVR, along with some of the other new shows. Caught the beginning and it looked quite good.
Warner Home Entertainment will bring Person of Interest: The Complete First Season to Blu-ray in the fall. Created by filmmakers J.J. Abrams (Super 8) and Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight), this weekly procedural stars Jim Caviezel (The Thin Red Line) and Michael Emerson (Lost) as two outcasts working on society's fringes to stop violent crimes.
From Warner's official synopsis:
"Using data siphoned off the U.S. intelligence agencies' threat matrix - information not related to terrorism, but rather violent crimes of a personal nature - during each episode, the former CIA agent (Caviezel) and his enigmatic partner (Emerson) identify a 'person of interest' and set about solving the mystery of the impending crime. I $shouldn`t$ have, but I did pick this up yesterday. Haven`t watched any of it. Sounds intriguing, and Caviezel (spelled that right?) should be able to carry it; looking forward to it.
I have been watching the show since the start. Always interesting, sometimes, quite exciting. The plotting is heavy at times, but rewarding. The relatively small cast is first rate all the way.
Special mention...
The first season finale that introduced the character of Root (played to evil perfection by Amy Acker) made for a terrific cliffhanger. The story was played over the first two episodes of the second season (currently airing), and, I hope the storyline continues. Very compelling.
Tech geeks will love the high tech equipment... fine acting... cool stories... slick scoring. A winner all around.
The main characters have lost some of the edge they had initially -- but that almost always happens in long form TV -- especially the two cops who are now sort of sweet and semi-sweet. They've really been glamming up Taraji P. Henson as Joss -- she looked stunning in the last episode. Not that that is a bad thing! They are keeping some of the bad-boy vibe to Fusco/Kevin Chapman -- and he's definitely my favorite character on the show. They do seem to be trying to create a coherent back story for the characters from week to week -- and I enjoy the glimpses we've been getting into Finch's past life. This is just about the only US Network show that I look forward to unreservedly each week. (I am getting a bit tired of the dog -- I keep expecting him to play more of a part in show -- but he seems there as another cute factor for the most part.) The other shows that I catch -- Castle, The Mentalist, Elementary -- have been spotty with some good episodes and some bad. I'm curious if the CD holds up as a separate listening experience? Anyway, I like this show very much.

I do like this tv series, but one thing bothers me. What about the people at risk in New Orleans, Wichita Falls and Atlanta? Does the machine ignore probables in other cities?

I see what you mean, but the characters can't really be everywhere at once. And wouldn't using air travel (which might be a necessity if they were to go from city-to-city to get there in time to save people at risk) create other problems for the main characters trying to avoid detection? Maybe not, but it's still a good and entertaining show....
No matter how hard you try, you can't save everyone. I'm sure that there are plenty of violent crimes in New York alone that Finch and Reese can't prevent. However, that's not to say that they can't start a POI franchise in multiple cities in upcoming seasons...

I think I posted this somewhere else -- about how disorienting it is to start watching an episode you don't remember seeing and then suddenly seeing a major character who has been killed off, looking very much alive. It keeps happening to me and makes it hard for me to enjoy it because of that -- wish they had figured out some other way to get rid of that major character!!!
It has gone a bit ...wayward last season or so. We now have two rival machines. And characters strangely changing personas - or doin odd things - to suit the plot. (always a bad sign) and the plot itself has got more convoluted, with elias and dominic etc. Its still watchable but not as good as first couple seasons.
