MIMIC: The Deluxe Edition
Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Music Composed and Conducted by Marco Beltrami
Release Info: Limited Edition of 1000 copies
Product Update: CDs will begin shipping the week of October 24.

Widely considered to be one of Marco Beltrami’s very best scores, we are thrilled to announce Mimic: The Deluxe Edition to coincide with the just-released Blu-Ray of the film. Greatly expanded from our own, original release from 1997, Mimic has never sounded better.

From acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro (Pan's Labrynth, Hellboy) comes "a terrifying film of great elegance" (San Francisco Chronicle). Starring Academy Award© winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) and screen favorite Charles S. Dutton (A Time to Kill) and Josh Brolin (True Grit) this electrifying thriller brings the epic battle between man and nature to life when a team of scientists discover a glitch in their miracle cure. With the power to mimic and destroy its every predator and the threat of an entire city's destruction, their creation has taken on a horrifying life of its own. With the weight of extinction on their shoulders the team is forced to take matters into their own hands in this stylish hit that delivers heart pounding thrills from beginning to end.

Checked out the samples and found them interesting. I've placed an order for this one from Peter. It seems to have a bit of praise from others.

Edit: Xalander, Varèse NEVER issues signed autograph copies to the first 100 (as La-La Land does) for their club batches. At least I've never known them to do that for as long as I've been collecting Limited Editions.

Disapointing Varese although Mimic is an OK score I think there are 1,000s of better ones we could have had.

Cover looks like a b**t.

Oh by the way, does anyone know if Beltrami scored Del Toro's cut back then or the Weinstein desaster ??

What?! That's original art from the first release! Not the one sheet maybe, but it's virtually the same as the front of the laserdisc I have. It looks great.

I watched the Director's Cut and the new scenes are filled with music already heard in the Weinstein cut, except for one that i can't identify (not sure if it's been written by Marco)

That' doesn't makes it a good cover, only a horrible decision. There are several things wrong in this unbalanced composition, the most obvious one being the black guy, copy pasted with a completely different source of light.

The original CD release of Mimic had a much better cover! And the blu ray cover is nice too, a shame they didn't use this one...

Excellent score and one of the few horror scores I can stomach, mostly because of the "delicious darkness" thing that Beltrami does so well. But I'm content with the ol' Varese release.

One of a few horror scores I like. There's some nice music here.

Didn't expect this one but I'm happy for those who were looking for an expanded release. To be honest I have to check out the movie again, just for the score wink

Hope it is still available for another day or two as I don't get paid until tomorrow or Wednesday. Depends on how much I take in, I'm always the last to get paid. Self-employment can suck sometimes.

This is one of my favorite horror scores and favorite Beltrami scores, so I'll definitely be ordering this one! And I don't care how the cover looks, that has nothing to do with the music itself razz
