I don't recall a CD where the source and bonus cues outnumbered the actual score cues. smile

As I wrote on Facebook, if LLL maintains a post-1941 relationship with Universal, then maybe there's hope for Animal House and An American Werewolf in London (a perfect double album!).

Incidentally, I found an interesting article about the use of classical music in comedy:

It boggles the mind that people would jump so quickly on something like this with so little actual original music from Bernstein. Even the shorter beginning section of score includes many interpolations of existing material as indicated by the asterisks. If you want classical, buy a quality recording of that music from a world renowned orchestra.

The real Bernstein treat recently is the release of Rampage and Summer and Smoke, both filled with tons of melodic original Bernstein. This one is a pass for me.

Is there really anything missing? Could more really have been added? I think its a fine release and much like 48 HOURS, seems to be all that it could be.

The only way to pick up this beloved, original music is to buy the full album. For me, it's so much a part of this classic it's irresistible. And I don't own the classical recordings, so it's a no-brainer.

But I agree that Rampage is fantastic.

I enjoy Elmer's particular treatments of the classical and Christmas material,
and personally think it's all well worth hearing for fans of the rest of his work.

After listening to this soundtrack (in the car on my way to work) just the other day I thought that now when I have this I should do a CD-R with some highlights from all the comedy soundtracks I have by Maestro Bernstein. So I am today going to do that and it includes music from Airplane, Bulletproof (sort of a comedy), Ghostbusters, Mad Dog and Glory (not seen the movie but from what I can understand it is some kind of a comedy?), Oscar, Spies Like Us, Stripes, Three Amigos, Trading Places and Wild Wild West.

Sounds good, but I'd hold out until someone puts out an ANIMAL HOUSE score album. (hint, hint)

Don't forget Lost in Yonkers. Of course if you have it How Now, Dow Jones (his Broadway musical comedy) and his underscore to Thoroughly Modern Mille

Worth grabbing especially since it is on sale at SAE for less than $5.00

My first holiday spin of the season. Nice selection of popular tunes both classical and Christmas. What better way to ease into Christmas scores? Wonderful mastering job too, audio is crisp and vibrant.

Played this at the weekend! Love this score!

Does anyone know the playing order including source material?

I've had the "Train" LP cue as one of my phone alarms for a few weeks now. It's an enjoyable way to wake up.
