I'm really enjoying getting to know this score. I enjoyed the film at the cinema far more than I expected to and noticed the score, quite a few times, standing out in a good old fashioned JNH way. It's a shame a few action tracks lame-out into MV/RC territory, but I'm sure the producers didn't want their fairy tale sounding old-fashioned with that pesky symphonic sound! Otherwise, it's a solid score by Sir JN of H, recalling, at times, his stellar work for MNShamalam. I've enjoyed his 'return to form' this year with the rustic, folksy HUNGER GAMES and this, for the most part, quite beautiful work. I'm not as excited about his forthcoming BOURNE score, as I cannot see it deviating that much from his SALT score and similar John Powell soundtracks, but we'll see.
