Hadn't done that with a new score since the passing of Jerry Goldsmith. Jerry would be so flattered ....

I was not expecting great things from the first film and score - Guy Ritchie's work is utter cack. However both the film and score surprised me for the good - there was a different slant on Holmes, mostly from Downey Jnr playing the same fast-talking wise-cracking character he played in Iron Man and everything else in recent years - just dressed in Sherlock clothes. And Zimmer's Jarre sound was very appropriate and fitted superbly. One of my favourite Zimmer scores. One wonders if in the next film - now the gimmick of Downey's Holmes exagerration has been used up - whether Ritchie can deliver a better film or a more tired version of the first. Zimmer, I expect, wont let anyone down for sure.

Zimmer, I expect, wont let anyone down for sure. Have you ever read a thread on Zimmer at this site?! What I mean is, after delivering that first score in an impressive style, the follow-up is more likely to be similar, and therefore should help the movie!!

except for the 18:18 minute long track, i thought the first soundtrack was OK but like INCEPTION it was a bit too repetitive.

YOR despised the first wall of sounds for the first movie and despised it even more when Zimmer put to play a track from Ennio Morricone's "Secret of the Sahara" in the warehouse explosion scene - the same score he used on "Gladiator" BTW.

except for the 18:18 minute long track, i thought the first soundtrack was OK but like INCEPTION it was a bit too repetitive. You mean "Psychological Recovery...6 Months"? The flippin' centerpiece of the score, as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully, "Game of Shadows" will be more of the (awesome) same. Yes, that track... couldn't it just be 2 9 minute tracks? I like long scores but I find anything over 9 minutes to be a hard listen and one reason I don't own a few scores [like WILLOW].

YOR is happy to see Zimmer quoting Morricone's score this time in the tracks. Probably threatened with a law suite by the Morricone state last time?
