I thoroughly enjoyed Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes score a few years ago and played it to death for a good while. Hadn't done that with a new score since the passing of Jerry Goldsmith. So will Game Of Shadows deliver the same fun and play as well if not better?

We'll see. Let's hope it's an At World's End to the first film's Dead Man's Chest and not an On Stranger Tides to the first film's At World's End!

I was not expecting great things from the first film and score - Guy Ritchie's work is utter cack. However both the film and score surprised me for the good - there was a different slant on Holmes, mostly from Downey Jnr playing the same fast-talking wise-cracking character he played in Iron Man and everything else in recent years - just dressed in Sherlock clothes. And Zimmer's Jarre sound was very appropriate and fitted superbly. One of my favourite Zimmer scores.
One wonders if in the next film - now the gimmick of Downey's Holmes exagerration has been used up - whether Ritchie can deliver a better film or a more tired version of the first. Zimmer, I expect, wont let anyone down for sure.

What I mean is, after delivering that first score in an impressive style, the follow-up is more likely to be similar, and therefore should help the movie!!

except for the 18:18 minute long track, i thought the first soundtrack was OK but like INCEPTION it was a bit too repetitive.

I'll settle for Inception Zimmer or Sherlock 1 Zimmer, but it better not be Megamind-Pirates 4 Zimmer.

YOR despised the first wall of sounds for the first movie and despised it even more when Zimmer put to play a track from Ennio Morricone's "Secret of the Sahara" in the warehouse explosion scene - the same score he used on "Gladiator" BTW.

After the first one, I'd be happy to never hear another Hans Zimmer Sherlock Holmes score for as long as I live. I'm by no means a Zimmer basher, but that was just a really annoying, repetitive score. But maybe it was just hard for him to be inspired given the film he was working with.

You mean "Psychological Recovery...6 Months"? The flippin' centerpiece of the score, as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully, "Game of Shadows" will be more of the (awesome) same.

Yes, that track... couldn't it just be 2 9 minute tracks?

I like long scores but I find anything over 9 minutes to be a hard listen and one reason I don't own a few scores [like WILLOW].

Well considering it was written for a movie (and actually slightly trimmed for the soundtrack) it makes sense that it would be that length...

This is apparently the track list, according to Filmmusicsite - they're usually pretty dependable, so I'd consider this legit. To me it certainly doesn't look like another On Stranger Tides, yes there are three source cues included, but the source music from the original film was used to great effect and I'd have liked to see it on the album. A maxed out album, with about an hour of Zimmer's original score - cool beans!

1. I See Everything (2:40)
2. That Is My Curse (Shadows – Part 1) (3:43)
3. Tick Tock (Shadows – Part 2) (3:47)
4. Chess (Shadows – Part 3) (4:39)
5. It’s So Overt It’s Covert (1:59)
6. Romanian Wind (2:29)
7. Did You Kill My Wife? (5:45)
8. He’s All Me Me Me (2:16)
9. The Mycroft Suite (1:44)
10. Don Giovanni A Cenar Teco (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) – Nicolaus Esterhazy Sinfonia & Hungarian Radio Chorus (5:18)
11. Two Mules For Sister Sara (Ennio Morricone) – Movie Screen Orchestra (5:21)
12. Die Forelle (Franz Schubert) – Ian Bostridge & Julius Drake (1:55)
13. Zu Viele Füchse Für Euch Hänsel (9:09)
14. The Red Book (3:05)
15. Moral Insanity (10:09)
16. Memories Of Sherlock (1:32)
17. The End? (3:15)
18. Romani Holiday (Antonius Remix) (3:44)

YOR is happy to see Zimmer quoting Morricone's score this time in the tracks.

Probably threatened with a law suite by the Morricone state last time?
