Started to watch these again this week, want to watch the complete 5 seasons as I'm not sure I finished this back in the day. Any fans?

I was a huge fan back when the show was on.

I rented the first disc last year and found I have no interest in it anymore.

I have all of the DVDs except for the fifth (and final) volume. Watching it nowadays, I find it hasn't aged as well as Batman: The Animated Series (the detailed animation looks clunky at times, and the voice acting is sometimes either flat or overdone), but for the most part I still enjoyed it.

Seen the first six episodes; I love that it's one big continuation and that certain story elements for the next episode are planted in a previous one. Also the pace of the action and editing is pretty high, what they lack in animation they make up with ambitious sequences. The (voice) acting leaves a bit to be desired, but wolverine makes up plenty. Still sticking with it so far smile

I adore this show. While it doesn't have that "timeless" quality that Batman TAS has - it has its own strengths and its own charms. I'm particularly fond that so many b-level character actors did work in it, particularly George Buza (who appeared briefly in the original X-Men movie, as the trucker who picks up Anna Paquin), Alyson Court (who is better remembered as the host of the kid's series The Big Comfy Couch), John Colicos (the original BSG's Baltar, also played the Klingon Kor in TOS and DS9) and David Hemblen (who looks *exactly* like Magneto and played Jonathan Doors on Earth: Final Conflict)

The show has a good arch, though the final season is a bit of a dud because FOX ordered episodes at the 11th hour and the original production house had already shutdown.

Also bumping this because I'm a huge fan, and would love to see some discussion about the music in this thread:

Francis sure has grown up over the past four years:

Due to lack of interest in the umpteenth Marvel Big screen bowel movement, we decided to go and see Louis Theroux's Scientology documentary movie at the theatre...

wink

While I was a big Uncanny X-Men fan in the early '80s, they imo quickly went to seed by the early '90s. I never cared for that card-throwing Frenchman or the Southern Belle Jubilee girl and I resented the return of Phoenix--yeah, I know; she's supposed to always return. Such is my love for X-Men, I avoid the X-Men films like crazy, though I foolishly saw the first two films.

Anyway, this series wasn't so good though I thought the theme was catchy. However, the only episode I remember was one where the normally good-humored (it's his coping mechanism, I guess) bad-ass Beast would whine and cry about Mutants being persecuted. I always felt that that element of them being hated should always simmer in the background and not always be the main thrust of every story. As much as I liked the original "Days of Future Past" story of UXM #141-142, it was just carried too far and milked to death.

It's been over twenty years since I've seen an episode of this series. I'd have to watch a few to see how it's aged. I didn't grow up with this show so I can see how those younger than yours truly might have a softer, more nostalgic opinion of it.

The Japanese opening is so much cooler.

I have been re-watching it and the animation is a bit dated in some episodes - but it really is a great character drama. Throughout the series you get to see how characters overcome personal challenges, and struggles. It also features some strong women characters too.

As for the Japanese opening - it is pretty awesome - it features some images of the Brood which were not really featured as a main villain.
