Francis sure has grown up over the past four years: Due to lack of interest in the umpteenth Marvel Big screen bowel movement, we decided to go and see Louis Theroux's Scientology documentary movie at the theatre... While I was a big Uncanny X-Men fan in the early '80s, they imo quickly went to seed by the early '90s. I never cared for that card-throwing Frenchman or the Southern Belle Jubilee girl and I resented the return of Phoenix--yeah, I know; she's supposed to always return. Such is my love for X-Men, I avoid the X-Men films like crazy, though I foolishly saw the first two films. Anyway, this series wasn't so good though I thought the theme was catchy. However, the only episode I remember was one where the normally good-humored (it's his coping mechanism, I guess) bad-ass Beast would whine and cry about Mutants being persecuted. I always felt that that element of them being hated should always simmer in the background and not always be the main thrust of every story. As much as I liked the original "Days of Future Past" story of UXM #141-142, it was just carried too far and milked to death. It's been over twenty years since I've seen an episode of this series. I'd have to watch a few to see how it's aged. I didn't grow up with this show so I can see how those younger than yours truly might have a softer, more nostalgic opinion of it.
