No, it was Alfred E. Newman.

I think you mean Alfred E. Neuman.

I'm slow but I finally got that.

Does the expanded CD release this week of the 1974 Fox TV version of "Planet of the Apes" in any way indicate that a 50th Anniversary expanded CD set of the Fox TV "Lost in Space" might be on the way to accompany the awesome 40th Anniversary "Lost in Space" CD set?

What would one have to do with the other? In any event, I think if you read this very thread, you'll find that there is ample reason to assume that's not happening.

considering how out-of-the-blue the "Star Trek" boxset was, who knows? As has already been speculated, perhaps there might be some effort to coordinate a soundtrack release with a Blu-ray release, if that ever happens.

I'm all for it but, it's a proven non seller. Why would anyone do this?

If there is a 50th Anniversary "Lost in Space" home video release later this year I wondered if that might make this year a great time for a tie-in expanded "Lost in Space" CD set.

In any case, it is so fortunate that so much music material from 20th Century Fox was retained or salvaged so there could exist a CD box "Bernard Herrmann at 20th Century Fox", a CD box set "Jerry Goldsmith at 20th Century Fox" and now this La-La Land Records expanded Fox TV series "Planet of the Apes" set.

I would also welcome more Lost In Space music. I wish there was more music from his other TV shows as well like voyage, Time Tunnel, and LOTG. After all these years and still only one single CD release of those other three. I remember buying that Fantasy Worlds of Irwin Allen box-set by GNP Crescendo over ten years ago. Still got it and would never part with it.

I have a total of 5 CDs, counting the double CD set as two. Add the Herrmann music spread out on various soundtracks and that's many more. That's more than enough Lost in Space music for one lifetime. I'd prefer stuff from shows not already available.

I can suggest one problem with LLL's LIS release - it was like a sampler with some existing and extra cues (relative to the Crescendo's). First cd had some whole episodes, the 2nd was a sampler. Maybe if it was more focused, either just the previously unreleased tracks, or whole remastered episodes.

It is great to have that cue from "Garden of Evil" as it was originally written and sounds. It just drifts in and out of "Garden of Evil" in one scene but in "Lost in Space" it becomes a Major Harbinger of True Danger About To Strike! Such fun.

What is the title? Do you know if if is on the Moscow Symphony recording?

Yes, starting at 0:40 in this youtube piece for fifteen seconds Judy Robinson is Threatened by a lurking suddenly alive rubber water hose while tending to the hydroponic garden as the evil Saticons try to take over the entire universe by hijacking control of devices in "The Wreck of the Robot"...and that fifteen seconds of music occurs in other episodes as well.

It is on the "Garden of Evil" re-recording at a much faster tempo. I missed it the first time I tried to catch it.

The original is a part of the "Bernard Herrmann at 20th Century-Fox" CD box set (or it could be called that box set with "Lost in Space" and other shows from the Fox music library material plus other stuff).

this just in regarding the BLU-RAY:

Bill Mumy gave up the great news on Facebook today - The entire LOST IN SPACE series will be released on Blu-ray in September 2015.

Bill's exact quotes:

- "Wait til you guys see the show on Blu Ray. It'll blow your mind it looks so great."

- "The Blu Ray of the entire series will be released in September."

I wonder how this will work for us iTunes digital buyers. I have the first 6 in standard def. Would love to upgrade.

Edit: That explains this!

If there is going to be a new expanded CD set it would be fascinating to find out if this will include Bernard Herrmann pieces from the Fox Library that became signature "Lost in Space" moments like the "jet pack" music from "Beneath the 12-Mile Reef" or the brief "danger" motif from "Garden of Evil".

I would have to assume it would include only music composed for Lost in Space. Although, the last release did have a few library pieces.

However, I'll be happy to be wrong and would enjoy their inclusion

Would love a box set with library cues. Their as much a part of Lost In Space's musical voice as the original music for me.

Looks like we'll soon see, one way or another.

Fifty years to the day of the first CBS-TV network broadcast (Sept. 15, 1965) is fast approaching.

What a "Lost in Space" banner year this is turning out to be!

This was the beginning. This was the day.

"Lost in Space" (and some of the signature Johnny Williams music) debuted on television in the US
50 years ago on this day.
