You pretty much need a tot of something to make coffee drinkable. The whipped cream helps, too One time that coffee alone simply doesn't work is when you have a cold or flu. It irritates that.

One of my favorite holiday beverages is one I first encountered at the Hamburger Hamlet, now defunct, and which I now prepare at home. Operating on the basic Irish coffee principal, it comprises hot coffee (of course), Bailey's Irish Cream, and Grand Marnier, topped off, naturally, with whipped cream. You're welcome!

The addition of the Grand Marnier sounds great; I'm going to try that. Thanks, Preston.

Remember having these a lot at the end of meals during the mid 80s - the old double cream poured onto the spoon - as mentioned higher up in the thread - into the sugared coffee. The common one back then was with Cointreau. I used to prefer the plain filter coffee with the cream - without the alcohol. And getting a white moustache when you drunk it!!
