In case people want to make their own (more) complete edit of Planet of the Apes, here are a couple of notes:

- Many tracks need a proper fade-in and fade-out. (e.g. Ape Suite 1 and 2)

- Take The Escape, Calima, Dinner Source (Film Version) and Main Titles (Synth & Percussion Only) from the Elfman/Burton box.

- Main Titles (Film Version)
missing the pan-flute part at the beginning (possibly a last-minute addition) – DVD-rip needed

- Dinner Source
Elfman box contains the film version; the LLL is a different mix with different instruments

- Rave Source
Note that this is already fully integrated in CD 1’s track “The Escape” (like it is in the film)

- Calima
Has a more complete mix on the Elfman box; LLL misses an overlay

- Preparing for Battle
the album version/edit seems to be composed of the film take (0:00-0:25) and of the alternate take (0:25-end)
(Alternatively, of course, it’s also possible that the film version was composed of two takes, and LLL put together the alternate from those two takes as well.)

- Rule the Planet Remix
DVD-rip needed of the film's credits if you want to make a dialogue-free version, which is possible but you'll need the opening and ending from the LLL or OST.

(- Camp Raid on the Elfman box is shortened.)

- The Story on the OST has a very, very slightly extended ending, presumably editorially created to end the cue satisfactorily. The ‘alternate mix’ of the cue doesn’t have it.

Thanks fommes for the heads up. I didn't know that Dinner Source from the LLL album was a different mix from the Elfman/Burton Box version. I think the "The Hunt" on the 2001 OST is also different from both versions on the LLL album.

My heart just sank after reading the low quantity alert, because I just ordered over $200 worth of CDs from La-La Land and Intrada, and really can't afford to buy any more scores for awhile. Then, I realized I purchased Planet of the Apes a year ago, and just haven't gotten around to listening to it yet. razz It's sorta nice when that happens, rare though it may be.

Intrada is extremely nice and will allow you to return an unopened dup minus shipping.

Not much of a "heads up", given that it's gone. Why give a low stock alert on some when there are hundreds left, and others just disappear with not much of a warning? This happened to me with Shane. I had to go the eBay route and pay over $30.

First off, with Shane you all did get a heads up. Sorry you had to pay more for it, but you guys were warned.

As for POTA, we did our inventory in June, noticed we had a handful left. The contract was set to expire so there was no need for us to press up another 500 or 1000 units. We sold the first 1500 units after being on the market for more than 2 years and left it at that.

Is there a difference between "The Escape" from the Elfman/Burton Box and the LLL album?
