I just got through watching the 1998 T.V.M. remake of "Rear Window" wand was impressed by David Shire's magnificent and dark Emmy winning score. Do you think there will be a chance of a C.D. release?

This is my favorite Shire and would jump at the opportunity to have it on CD. I hope one of the labels is considering it. I taped the soundtrack from the film on cassette and play it in my car often...

Was the remake any good? I'm a big Shire fan so I hope they do release the score.

The TV movie was a co-production of Cambria Productions, Haft Entertainment, and Hallmark Entertainment, so it's hard to know where the music elements may lie.

Hallmark is notorious for not keeping scoring sessions.

Well considering how bad Hallmark films music scores are i can see why.

Why yes, in fact. A very good chance of a CD release. 2 years after your original post, but still. Just announced!:

Great! I was just wondering about this one the other day. I remember catching it on TV and the music really stood out. I think FSM even featured it in one of their issues. I haven't heard it since, so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Thank God.

Which place and recording studio the score was recorded?

If you do know the answer please message me back with full music credits.

Remaking Rear Window was a really odd idea.
It is like remaking Lawrence of Arabia or something.

At least the music is good.

From an FSM interview with the composer:
When I do collaborate with a director, often we throw stuff away early on. We did on REAR WINDOW. I was in the right ballpark, but the director said, "Well, it isn't quite right yet--but I like the direction it's going." So I did something else on my synth and sent it to him and he said, "That one's great." But you don't always get a chance to work that way, especially in television. With a score I used to get a month for, I now get ten days or two weeks for because the post-production is so sped up with that digital editing thing and the composer just has to go along.

I don't see a demo theme on the CD release tracklist, so I guess we'll not be hearing that synth demo. Assuming it was just one.
