Well, my favorite bit was always Don Martin's DR. JEKYLL, where he dumps his formula down the sink.

On A Clear Day You Can See A Funny Girl Singing Hello, Dolly Forever. It satirzied Babs Stresiand first three movie musicals. Much fun! The runner up would be The Sound of Money.

Too many to mention, so I will try and limit it to a few parodies that stood out. The late 70s and early 80s was my favorite period of Mad Magazine, so most of my favorite movie parodies come from that period. Probably my favorite movie parody was Raiders of the Lost Art (Raiders of the Lost Ark), which I believe was drawn by the great Jack Davis. It was a great mix of digs at the film and contemporary commentary. Other favorite parodies included "Star Blecch: The Motion Picture", and the "Empire Strikes Out".

As far as tv shows go, the parody that sticks out the most was their take on Sesame Street. Their parody of Little House on the Prairie was also very funny.

In the mid-to-late '70s, I was a devout Cracked reader, mostly because I absolutely LOVED John Severin's art. However, on the rare occasions I had enough money (allowance, birthday, etc.) I'd pick up an issue of Mad and the "occasional Crazy", which went belly up shortly afterwards. Crazy semed crude compared to the other, betetr humor mags. These used to be rites o passage for boys and a few girls, but I wonder if they are anymore.

Anyway, I fondly recall the following--to list but a few (Cracked and Mad; hope you don't mind):

Star Wars, two issues in a row! It really was a hit! wink

This was one of the last issues of Mad I ever bought; I must have been in ninth grade at the time. I'm not sure of the cover dating, though. Do these mags have a three month difference between calendar and cover date?

And yes, I had the Mad Raiders issue; my best friend and I were howling with glee in the cafeteria in fifth grade at "Inbanana Jones." big grin

BTW, if anyone has the Mad mag with the "Hannah and Her Sickos" parody (Mad #265) they don't want, send it my way.

My favourite is back in 1991 when MAD spoofed BACKDRAFT and turning it into HACKDRAFT.

Star Blecch II: The Wreck of Korn
Star Blecch III: The Search for Plot
The Force and I (Star Wars Musical)
The Oddfather
Dullus
M*U*S*H

Jim, I was a fan of CRAZY Magazine and its signature character Obnoxio the Clown. This is my favorite cover. HAHAHA!!

THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE spoof was MAD's highest-selling issue of all time. I still have it. They did a sexy job drawing Stella Stevens.

I wonder if the film studios provided MAD with 16mm prints of their movies (this was long before the VCR). How else would the artwork often be so dead-on for scenes throughout the film?

"Up the Down Staircase" parody - school kids running down the stairs throwing Sandy Dennis to the floor and trampling over her as Dennis shouts up to them "Careful children, don't cut yourself on my teeth" - (I guess a bit cruel but hilarious!).

I still remember MAD's parody of Return Of The Jedi, "Rehash Of The Jeti".

"Hey, Leia, guess what? You're my sister and Darth Vader's my dad and Han's my brother and Chewie's my dog and Artoo's my old Hoover vaccumn cleaner, and..." big grin

Wasn't the MAD parody on that one called THE UPSIDE DOWN ADVENTURE?
