Glad you guys are enjoying this one I was disappointed in it myself do love the score but thought it was not worth the money for the extra tracks which I find are too similar to what was already on the CAM cd liked track 18 the best out of bonus stuff.

Anyone pick up the new Ferrio western Gli Eroi Del West (Heroes of the West)

I got this one as I like Ferrio. To be honest I wasn't too keen on it at first (I played the other stuff that came with it more). However when things quietened down a bit I gave it a few more spins.I am starting to like it more. The problem was that it seemed to be a bit too comedic for my taste,at least that's what stood out.The title track is a bit naff (it's not Don Powell,Maurizio Graf or een Roul). For novelty value Alessandroni sings on treack 3( let's just say don't give up the day job).I'm listening to it now and it's not bad, getting to like it more. It's still a bit on the light side, dramatically(I think it was supposed to be a comedy?).Thjere's a song sung by Nora Orlandi(more novelty value)which comes off a bit better. It doesn't sound particlarly'Italian' either. So not as bad as first thought, getting better butNevada,Price of Power and Un Uomo,Cavallo (which came with it)were better-quicker.

Thanks for that Damian that is much the same way I felt about the last couple of Ferrio cds warming to them more after a number of listens Djurado found this a lot better after I edited out the title song and the rest of the similar comedy tracks. Quite enjoy what is left some of the tracks remind me of his score Sentenza Di Morte hope we see the expansion of that one.

Mi chiamavano Requiescat... ma avevano sbagliato this is a bit of a strange one as well more of a mild flavour of his giallo style than any western.

I find it odd that none of the choral overlays appear on this new cd. The movie itself, which is on YouTube, is full of obvious wordless choral work played over the three basic themes. What happened? Did they go missing? Guess we'll never know.

Just gave the CD a good listen. Holy crap! Jim's right, what happened?

The chorals are present on the CAM CD. Good reason to hang on to that release.

We have to create a list of those newly released Italian soundtracks that don't contain all the music available on previous releases!

There is also a problem with the new edition of "CI RISIAMO, VERO PROVVIDENZA?" by GDM / Hillside. (link to the international Morricone forum: http://www.enniomorricone.it/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=661&start=0&hilit=provvidenza)

so another complete incomplete then?

That said, Iam still listening to Un Uomo Un Cavallo etc in the car and enjoying it very much.

Struck by its similarity to For a few dollars more - all the usual Morricone trademarks - especially in the secondary/third theme that has the first few bars of the Paying off scores track which then morphs into something different. Sounds more like when played just with the organ - think its track 5.
And the main theme has the similar violin bridge like the FAFDM main title, flute trills, whipcracks, twangy guitar etc - more so than many other Italian western scores.

The other thing that caught me out was the short single horn blast in the middle of - cant remember which track - but its at 1min 42 ish. I thought there was something wrong with the car when I first played it!!
(ah, found it track 7!!)

Same here, love this score.

I don't know what happened with the choral overlays, I'm sure I read somewhere that they weren't available for release, maybe they weren't written be Cipriani, stranger things have happened.

What's left, however, is a damn good album, which makes a very satisfying listen, I'm glad you're enjoying it Bill.

Yes. That's the one. It's also supposedly recorded in Dolby Surround.

Thanks Greg. I will pick up that CAM version at my local shop tonight. While patiently waiting for my SAE order of the newest version to arrive. I love this score so much, I want everything recorded for this film. smile

Damn, I must be getting old, I had that cd, and it is in Dolby Surround, but I honestly can't remember there being choral overlays on it. Damn, damn, damn, I don't have it anymore, 'cos I sold it on e-bay. Double damn and blast.

However I am so enjoying the new release, which doesn't have the overlays, but sounds a helluva lot better.

I guess the tracks from the OST uploaded to Youtube don't have the choral overdubs too.

Finally received this new version yesterday - the sound quality is excellent. Well worth the money. I can't believe this isn't sold out yet.
