For those of you who have loved and lost, you can always play "elder statesman" and benevolently look on as others hold hands while they take a romantic stroll in the major park of their geographical choice.
Or choose another rendition of "Hello Young Lovers."
Looking only at serious relationships, I was engaged for four years but never married the girl, married but never got engaged (once bitten etc) and now gloriously happy with the love of my life Tracy, despite the fact her taste in movies is terrible and, despite being a smart very smart cookie (she's a lawyer), seems to have a complete inability to follow the plots of movies I like!

Good for you, Mike. In terms of significant relationships it was third time lucky for me as well. The spark was first ignited at a work Hallowe'en party 28 years ago, and we're 25 years married.
I been with me spouse for 9 years, first dating and eventually married. We've had a big dumb canine buddy for 8 years and a little human buddy for 10 months.
Seeing this thread title made me miss Dan the Man. Rose colored glasses and all that, I guess.
I've had six serious boyfriends. The seventh (for luck?) married me: we just passed our 16th anniversary. He actually likes SOME of my film music collection; Georges Delarue's "Crimes of the Heart" is his favorite.
