"Transplanting the well-loved tragic romance of Thomas Hardy's classic novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles to India"

Some very exciting news, Shigeru Umebayashi is scoring a new movie!

Black Gold and now Trishna, very nice to see the lovely Freida Pinto again.

Hope this score gets released.

The film is from my favorite director Michael Winterbottom. It's a modern telling of "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" set in India.

It premiered at Toronto last year and was released in the UK earlier in the year. It didn't set the world on fire in either place, and will get a brief limited release here in July.

Sadly I've heard nothing about a soundtrack album and I don't expect one.

I saw the movie yesterday and it didn't do do much for me. But Umebayashi's music was nice and he composed a beautiful waltz theme.

BTW MovieScoreMedia is releasing the score in the near future.

I enjoyed some of the cues he provided for Tom Ford's "A Single Man," although the principal ones by Abel Korzeniowski understandably stole the show.

Re: It's a modern telling of "Tess of the d'Urbervilles" set in India. Interestingly, I'm right in the middle of watching the 4-part remake of "Tess."

Glad to hear the score will be released. I wonder if the original Bollywood songs written for it will be on the album as well.

I agree, the film had flaws, but I loved the beautiful photography and I think the idea of transplanting Tess to India was clever and nicely thought out.

Could we know when to expect this release?

Can we have an update from someone at MSM or Kronos on the release date for this? It was stated in last november that it would be in the "near future".
Thanks.

Sounds good... ok, waiting for 8 more releases to combine it with since Soundtrack-club STILL doesn't accept paypal.
