I've started watching Mad Men last week and am at the beginning of season 3. I find it to be wonderful in many ways.

I'm curious about how the music has been released.

There's:

Mad Men - Original Score Vol. 1
http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Men-Original-Score-Vol/dp/B002A4Y9PQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339020340&sr=8-1

and

Mad Men, After Hours: Music From the Original Series
http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Men-After-Hours-Original/dp/B00470SXDA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1339020340&sr=8-8

After Hours seems to consist of about half the material on Vol. 1 and some new tracks. In all, there seems to be some music for season 1 and some for season 2.

The show is currently in its fifth season. I'd love to see more music from season 1 and 2 released and for the other seasons as well.

I don't understand why it hasn't had a straightforward release for each season.

I'd be interested in more Mad Men music -The Carousel, and in particular the part of it that begins the Mad Men suite on the additional soundtrack album, is the stand-out achievement. I can't believe that that was not one of the tracks that crossed over the two releases.

I love the show. I have the instrumental score album and, in my opinion, it is not a very satisfying listen. There are some odd production choices, like random fades on a few tracks. I think the music generally works well on the show, but it's not my cup of tea for a standalone experience.

After contacting Mr. Carbonara I got this reply:

"Thank you for your inquiry.
It's still up in the air as to when a soundtrack from Season's 3 - 5 would be released.
It's really up to Lionsgate Music, since they own the original music from the season.
Maybe they'll get enough requests to get it together and release one soon.

Thanks, and all the best to you,
- david carbonara"

Hope we see a release.

Yesterday's episode had some really nice music. It had 2 themes that were really good, I'm hoping they get more music for this show released.

I just picked this up. What's up with the repetition of music? What a waste. At least the cover art is good. (The art on the first one sucks.)

Finally new Mad Men music!

Got On The Rocks the other day but I haven't heard Night Cap so I can't comment about that one. I'm glad they finally released more music for the new seasons. It's a very great show with very charming music.

We started watching Season 1 again and listening to the audio commentaries. Matthew Weiner mentions the music and has good things to say about Carbonara. One of the episodes has a commentary by Carbonara, but I have not heard it yet.

Why is Mad Men Vol. 1 $250 on Amazon? Is it that rare?

The "Mad Men" discography is very confusing between the score albums, songtracks, and knockoffs.

For what it's worth, here is my understanding of the Carbonara score music.

"Original Score from Mad Men, Vol. 1 "
"On the Rocks"

These two albums feature all Carbonara music, with no overlap between them.

"After Hours"
"Night Cap"

These two albums feature all Carbonara music, but they repeat some music from the aforementioned two releases, while also including some unique tracks.

"Mad Men Music from the Series, Vol. 1"

This is mostly a songtrack, but includes a few Carbonara tracks that are not on any of the other releases.
