Very sad news reports filtering through at the moment...

Don Grady best known as Robbie Douglas on the long running situation comedy "MY THREE SONS" passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer. He had just turned 68 on June 8th.

He was a very kind and gentle man. He kept his illness very quiet. I am extremely saddened by his death.

In addition to 'My Three Sons," Don Grady appeared in a few films, including THE McCULLOCHS, for which MMM recently released the score.

This must be SOME claim to posterity.

The actor was most well-known for his role as Robbie Douglas in "My Three Sons" and was one of the original Mouseketeers on "The Mickey Mouse Club." He joined the show when he was only 13 years old.

Grady was also a recording artist and was involved with a group called Yellow Balloon, which produced a hit record and album by the same name in the 60s. (Jan and Dean also recorded the song but Grady's version was the more popular.)

Sad to hear of his death. He always seemed like a very decent guy.

Mr. Grady was actually an extremely talented musician -- and in his later years made his living as a composer. Several of his obits mention that he contributed music to several films, including Blake Edwards', including "Skin Deep" and "Switch" -- which I had not known before.

He was sort of a "phantom" sibling when I was a kid -- my family never missed an episode of "My Three Sons" over the years. So I feel a great deal of sadness at this news.

His sister, actress Lani O'Grady, died several years ago also from cancer. Sad news. Loved Don on My Three Sons.

He also was an accomplished musician, and scored some documentaries that aired on The History Channel. R.I.P. Don, you're now up there with Fred MacMurray, William Frawley, William Demarest, Beverly Garland and Meredith McRae.

I thought Lani O'Grady died of a drug overdose in 2001.

You are correct. I think I was thinking of the cause of death of Meredith McRae. Still sad that both Robbie Douglas and Mary Bradford are gone.
