My copy along with Rio Lobo shipped on the 5th. I ordered it on the 2nd of July. The only question will the package arrive at Warp 9 or is it arriving under impulse engine power?

You missed out Transwarp Drive. What if your CDs shipped by that method?

Maximum velocity in 5... 4... 3... 2... ... ... "Good morning, Captain." Chug, Chug, Crunch....

"The more they overlook the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain"

I'm pretty sure he said "The more they over-think the plumbing..."

Yes, I rather think you're right. In fact, you are - I'll correct it.

Btw isn't it astonishing that La-La Land sent out replacement front inlays for the first batch to correct a tiny typo on the spine?

They said they spared no expense with this release. They still don't.

I just hope its been mega profitable for them after all they've had to pay out to get it done. On top of reprinting cards.

If it sells all 10000, that would be the record for a STAR TREK boutique edition, right?

How many soundtracks (whether Star Trek or otherwise) limited to 10k copies sell out that many? I don't even know how many soundtracks receive that large a limited edition to begin with - it seems to me they're usually either limited to substantially fewer copies than that, or not limited at all.

Anyway, I'm absolutely delighted the album is doing so well for LLL, even while at the same time I'd prefer to see it remain available for everyone who wants it (and I'd like a lot more people to want and appreciate it). I hope this will follow Star Trek V: The Final Frontier's route and have an unlimited release from some other label after this limited edition sells out - but this time I didn't take any chances, and ordered the day they began taking general orders. This is definitely one score release I wanted to be absolutely sure I wouldn't miss out on!

Two things:

1). Just got the "second run" in the mail this week, and the package looks great, except, was it supposed to have the black plastic case that masked the inside front and back CD case inlays?

2). What was the typo they had to correct?

1). Black plastic case? Well, part of it is black, but both the front and back of each of the two flip-out trays are clear, at least in mine. It sounds like they might have run out of clear plastic parts and made some substitutions for the second run.

2). On the spine, the word "FROM" (in the text "MUSIC FROM THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK") originally was misspelled "FRIOM."

Yes, in my case, I have to remove the CD tray with spokes to see the pictures of Kirk, Spock, Decker and Ilia.

I got the spine-typo edition, and I'm sticking with it to spare them the postage of sending out another card.

Ordered on the 4th, received on the 9th. Packed with lots of bubble wrap - not even a ding on the jewel case. Excellent service as always, La-La Land! Now trying to convince my wife to take the babies out for a few hours so I can blast this on the stereo... wink

ST: TMP - OMG!!!!!!!!

Late to the party, but this is just magnificent. Thanks to all involved, especially for the Disc 3 out-takes and blaster beam orgy. An historic release of spectacular awesomosity.

This is a stunning release. Thank you to all who made this possible and such a joy to experience.

Always enjoyed Goldsmith's tuba and low brass writing for this score. The list of musicians in the booklet indicates four tuba players! At pivotal moments I recall hearing at least one to the right and another more tightly miked and panned left (eg during the "End Title"). Were all four present at the same time during any cue or is the booklet collating all performers across the many disparate sessions?

By the way, except for the middle holder all the plastic parts of the case (trays, back and front cover) are the same as on standard single CD jewel cases. So those parts are super easy to replace/substitute.

No, since the sessions were spread out, I doubt that all four tuba players were required on the same day. 1 or 2 would suffice.

of course, Herrmann once required 9 harps and during another score 16 flautists!
