WOW is the word, a friend of mine once said hearing the great end theme piece where Delerue's beautiful tunes mixes in so well with the jazz oriented style of the piece, mixed in with such a wonderful, sweeping flowing musical arrangment as well, i mean, he said, this is just OUT OF THIS WORLD, well in a way Delerue's music was, he really was something, yes this is a jaded world, but his music really was something.

True. My mom even took notice of the music when it was playing, which is saying something because she hardly ever pays attention to film music.

...happy to have found my original CD copy in a Calgary second-hand record shop for around $10 several years ago...

Another Calgarian here? wink

My in-laws are in Calgary, I'm from the Toronto area. The store is called RECORDLAND, a warehouse-type environment with generally over-priced stock but a HUGE selection.

I'd like to ask if there is any difference in sound quality between the new version and the original issue? As i said previously, i finally got the original cd and also a copy of the new version that remains sealed so i'm not sure what one to hold on to.

To Spook- i got a suggestion keep one wrapped for your grandson or great grandson, so one day they will see there was a great film composer named Georges Delerue.Believe me touching so many styles of the musical world, his music i am pretty sure will always be timeless, as long as people love a nice tune and music that is stylishly done.

This one sounds ace.

Agreed. Sounds delightful. Ordered without hesitation.

P.S. Did the back of the original album also misspell Dan Hersch's name?

Cheers
Chris

I know this answer comes years later, but no, the original CD did not misspell his name.

DMD, not sure if you can answer this or not, but was the 2012 Encore release of CRIMES OF THE HEART remastered in any way? An A/B comparison to my ears has them sounding identical but it'd be nice to know. Also, was that album indeed a re-recording as has been stated here? If so, it sounds pretty damn close to my recollection of the score as heard in the film. Golly, what an incredible film score. Just makes me love life every time I hear it!!!
