THURSDAY, JULY 19

LINCOLN---the Abraham Lincoln biomovie directed by Steven Spielberg will premier on November 9. Daniel-Day Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader and Bruce McGill star.

BLOOD & CHROME---Richard Hatch, who starred in both BATTLESTAR GALACTICA series, said the prequel may not be dead, "What I've heard from sources is that BLOOD & CHROME is [a] very epic, groundbreaking series. They are still trying to determine where to place it. They have made no decision, it's not over. It's still in the pipeline. [Syfy is] still trying to consider where is the best place to present this and the best time. It's still viable, and still ongoing, and no final decisions have been made." Syfy president Mark Stern said in March that it would not develop the series.

AMERICAN BULL****---Amy Adams has signed to co-star as the mistress of a con man (Bradley Cooper) who is involved in an FBI corruption investigation in Atlantic City which leads to Washington DC. It was later known as Abscam.

THE LINCOLN LAWYER---Matthew McConaughey commented on if the sequel is underway, “Man, I hope so. The update is I wish I knew more. The update is I wish I had that second script in my hand already...If that next script is [good]—and they are working on it, it’s being written—I would love to get in Mickey Haller’s shoes again. And that’s probably, of all the characters I’ve done, the one I’m most excited about..." He added the sequel would be based on two books and that Detective Lankford (Bryan Cranston) would have a bigger role.

They eat people and they have to live with the ramifications of being monstrous. It's like grounding it in a reality because the half-hour was a sitcom, we saw the monsters: they were monsters on the outside and weren't monsters on the inside. For us, they're monsters outside and inside, and we get to double our story.". He added that iconic monsters would appear including THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Jerry O'Connell, Eddie Izzard and Portia de Rossi star.

DEXTER---Santiago Cabrera (HEROES) will guest star as an author of a book about famous murders.

Oh great. Munsters with a conscience. Yeah that makes sense. Let's really get into the mindset of a Munster to better understand and sympathize with them. roll eyes

Next let's reboot the Alien franchise, but do it all from the aliens' perspective, showing that they really put conscious thought into everything they do and that they're troubled by the ramifications of their lifecycle.

Hey, I don't care if we get inside the Munster mind, but jeez...eating people? How is that anywhere neae what "The Munsters" was about?

I can see the network isn't all that confident either. Good, scrape this steaming dump off their shoes and walk on.

It's really remarkably stupid to do this to The Munsters. The whole premise of the show was that, to themselves, they were normal, and everybody else was weird. That's the whole joke! How do you completely reverse that and still call it The Munsters? And why am I so outraged about this? HAHA!

I read this news and just about vomited (scary). And, I really wasn't that fond of the show. However, this "repuke" is just further proof of how not to pull from the past.

Perhaps they should talk to the creative force behind the fantastic DALLAS update. They are doing it right and taking chances at the same time. Jeez.

Stick to your own concepts, Bryan Fuller.

Exactly, yes, idiot Fuller is missing the entire freaking point of the show. Nice. Was never a huge fan of the original, but did like the goofy humor. Rebooting to begin with was a bad idea, now we can be sure it is being rebooted by morons. GRRRRRRRRRRR

The Machine sounds like The Iron Giant, but with a human instead of a robot.

I barely even know what THE MUNSTERS is (it's some sort of ADDAMS FAMILY show, right?!), so I have no problem with a more serious version of that, whatever it is.

But I really hope they get BLOOD & CHROME off the ground, that's what I really wanted to say. smile

Doesn't Bryan Fuller at least get the benefit of the doubt? There hasn't even been a pilot filmed and people are already crapping on it. Perhaps you should judge it after you've actually seen it?

Generally speaking, yes. In this case, no. Life is too short to waste on stuff that has an 80% chance of being lame. I had an open mind about reimaginings for many years, yet I was consistently reminded that my initial reaction was spot-on. But I still look at them case by case, as I did recently with the above mentioned new Dallas show (and I like it!). For The Munsters, the new concept itself is lame, so I'm not enticed to open the door.

This reminds me of all the negative pre-screening reactions a while back to the Dark Shadows remake. How did that end up faring with people, especially the naysayers? I haven't heard much about it since it came out. I've never seen the show or film, so I can't comment, but I'm still interested to know if it exceeded expectations for those who weren't on board with the idea.

"I have no idea what anyone is talking about, so I'll just be contrary to everyone here."

Sounds more like the bastard son of THE IRON GIANT and THE PACIFIER.

It didn't go down too well with the punters, critically or commercially.
