Who knows, maybe one day when our future galvanic shelves are buckling beneath the weight of countless LLL DCAU volumes, we'll see a multi-disc release of DCAU: The Leftovers and The Rarities. Seriously though, I totally get your enthusiasm. I consider myself as rabid a fan of this music as anyone and would of course snag a Volume 4 in a heartbeat, but I also understand the decision to finish with Volume 3. Regardless, we've got plenty of DCAU goodness on our hands already and plenty to look forward to.

I may be in the minority here, but I want to voice my opinion strongly in case there are others who want to speak up with me: I WANT BATMAN TAS VOLUME 4! Yes yes, I know we haven't got Volume 3 yet... MV has said that after Volume 3 there will be a 4 CD "Adventures of Batman & Robin" (which I would think would be enough to cover all the complete scores for that run) and 4 CD set from the Batman shows that aired alternating with Superman TAS (when the animation style changed somewhat but the scoring style was thankfully the same). And he's said that LLL is planning on Batman Beyond as well, and further volumes of Superman. So we're getting an abundance of riches, really. But I'm GREEDY, see. Three volumes/ten discs (2 + 4 + 4) is not enough to cover all of the scores from the original run of 65 episodes, at least not if they're complete as I prefer them to be. Cues and most likely some entire scores will be left out. I love this music soooo much that I'd just like to put in a word right now that I WILL BUY a Batman TAS Volume 4, with all the unreleased scores and unreleased cues from the released scores (ie. the two part Two-Face episode score that was a bit truncated on TAS Vol. 1). I don't know if it'd be enough material for a 4 disc set (maybe if it includes any unreleased material from the Batman/Superman season that doesn't fit on 4 discs?), but however big it is, I WILL BUY IT! Now if LLL wants to do all the other sets they mentioned first and if they sell well then finish off the original 65, okay. I understand that. But assuming these other ones continue to sell, PLEASE guys consider just making it complete! Rarely was a cue for these magnificent shows less than excellent. It is maybe the most consistently great TV scoring of all time, and that's saying something when one considers stuff like The Twilight Zone and Lost. I'll be there for more -- who else is with me? Yavar P.S. to Intrada -- I'll also buy an Amazing Stories Volume 4 should you ever see fit to put it out, ESPECIALLY if tapes are ever located for Danny Elfman's Family Dog! I'm with you on this. As excited as I am for an Adventures of Batman and Robin release, I really want the material from "Perchance to Dream" and "Vendetta" which hasn't been released and would happily buy the proposed 'volume 4' to get it. Plus everything else on the release would undoubtedly be great, as you say!

The suites for "Perchance to Dream" and "Vendetta" on Vol. 1 are perfect, listenable representations of those scores, in my opinion, and I just wouldn't be interested in additional short cues from them just getting tacked onto a future set. I like that each set will feature episodes scores unique to just that set (outside of the "Gotham City Overture" suite from Vol. 1). Sometimes you just have to enjoy what's been made available and then let future volumes not be a collection of odds and ends.

Thanks, both of you. I see that my favourite cues in both episodes were scored by Shirley Walker. I guess Lolita Ritmanis and Michael McCuistion had free reign when they were assigned "It's Never Too Late" and "Vendetta" respectively, as Shirley Walker's name isn't attached to either of those episodes on the back of volume 1. I don't know, I'm of the opinion that a volume 4 should be episode scores not yet released at all. Sometimes you just have to enjoy what's been made available and then let future volumes not be a collection of odds and ends. You say that now, but maybe when you re-watch those episodes at some stage you might hear the cues that didn't make it onto volume 1 and think, "Man, I wish those had been released!". At any rate, I might not be the only one hoping to see some of that material included as a bonus on a future B:TAS soundtrack.

I re-listened to Volume 2 of B: TAS yesterday. It was just a reminder of what fantastic work Walker and the others achieved. And yet another sore reminder of her death. "The Gray Ghost" has a wonderful theme and is delightfully orchestrated. Too bad most of the episode score isn't up that level and the theme doesn't appear more. "The Cat and the Claw" has some fantastic action material (which I edited and arranged into an action-packed epic suite), a strong theme and some of the orchestration just has this bold classic sound that is very enduring. "Nothing to Fear" opens with that haunting arrangment of Scarecrow's theme that never quite leaves your head; it's always there, especially if you think of Scarecrow. The original Scarecrow, not that horrible re-design. Also other nice versions of his theme as well as some mounrful music for Bruce. Balcomb's catching repeating strings and simple yet effective theme in "Appointment in Crime Alley" is quite welcomed. "Mad as a Hatter" gives us an infectious theme for the Mad Hatter, almost as infectious the Penguin's theme (both this and the 1966 series Penguin theme) Unfortunately, for me, "The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne" offers nothing I want to hear again. Despite some of the cheesyness of the episode, "I've Got Batman in My Basement" offers a lot of good material as well, and the odd orchestration choice for a repeating musical idea, is interesting to listen to; I wish it had been expanded upon. "Feat of Clay: Part I" is almost a different beast of a score compared to the second part, though twice in the score we do hear the familiar themes. I wonder why Atmajian didn't do any other scoring for the show. I don't think there's anything else I can say about "Feat of Clay: Part II" that I haven't said before. If there was a list of the Top 10 best scores of the series, this is on it. Every single second of music in that episode is gold. "Almost Got 'im" opens wit ha terrific jazzy piece by Balcomb. I wish he had had a chance to do mroe like this in the series. I didn't care for it initially, but the "If You're So Smart, Why aRent' You Rich?" score has grown on me a little, but that's as far as it will go. In a case of "It sounded better in the episode", the score for both part one and part two of "Demon's Quest", left me bored (especailly part one). "Shadow of the Bat", parts one and two offer more delightful material, especially the terrific Batgirl theme, which really wasn't heard enough. The breif jazz parts in the second part of quite nice. "Read My Lips" left me cold. Nothing in there I want to hear again. And finally the set closes out with "Fire from Olympus", a grand and bolded score with a powerful theme. The softer moments are quit something, too. "Ah, merry Hermes -- trickster of the Gods." I only with I had had the money to get Volume 3 and Volume 4. Maybe some day. They only follow up with most excellent scoring, including Peter Tomashek's excellent "Robin's Reckoning: Part II", Carlos Rodriguez's inventive and interesting "Clock King", Todd Hayen's dark "Dreams in Darkness", "Day of the Samurai" (once again showcasing Rodriguez's work; no, not the same Carlos Rodriguez who scores those terrible Sin City movies), missed score from "Two-Face", and "His Silicon Soul" gives up plenty more good uses of Walker's Batman theme.

Good catch! I love that score since its release, on Milan CD. Ordered the expanded LLL CD the day of its release, so my cover is signed! Great adventurous score. I recommand it.
