However it comes out, I'll hate it.

If Zimmer's SUPERMAN score is anything like THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, it's another cd I won't be purchasing. I saw the BATMAN picture yesterday and felt the score was just a mixture of drones and percussion. No themes, nothing to hang on to melodically and enjoy. I can't fathom why some on this board are going out of their way to get extra cues from this abysmal soundtrack.

I must admit I am a little nervous....

Snyder tracked a 2 minute preview for MOS with Zimmer's Journey to the Line from his Thin Red Line score and it actually works incredibly well. I've also read that he's largely eschewing drums for MOS. if he goes this route it actually might be something very special.

Ummm...either this is a really bad misunderstanding of the meaning of "Execrable", or...sarcasm?

It's not sarcasm or a misunderstanding. Execrable is what I meant.

For someone with an otherwise excellent taste in music (judging from your favorite scores), that's a really dumb thing to say. Williams' score personifies Superman. So there.

It may indeed personify Superman, but I wish it didn't. And thank you for the compliments on my taste, I'll ignore the personal insult.

Are you referring to just the March or all of the score? The march might seem a little cheery and perhaps cheesy to the under 40 crowd (no insult, just an observation) but there's a lot of material in that score that is just plain amazing. The Krypton music, Smallville Americana, action writing for Metropolis, etc. I don't think of "loathsome" and Williams entire Superman score in the same sentence. To me it's like an oxymoron.

But tastes are tastes. And yes, your favorite scores shows you have a pretty broad range of score preferences.

No matter what kind of score Zimmer will come up with, with Snyder directing, and from the trailer that I saw, we can expect a grainy, hand held filmed movie with action scenes shot in super slo-mo ala "Sucker Punch" and "Watchmen". The effects will be great I am sure but I fear and expect the worst for this "reboot" and if its great, so much the better for all of us. But I won't hold my breath.

If you have no other choice than portraying Superman as an "an old-school, optimistic, clean-cut goodie-two-shoes", then his role as an icon and character is pretty much dead. The fact is that any character in popular culture is open to interpretation, and how far you want to stretch things from the original is up to the artist.

Let's turn Batman into an "old school, optimistic, clean cut" character and see how THAT goes over with the public. Something tells me returning to the Adam West era is going to get a huge thumbs down.

The issue with Superman is that they've already MADE a "reinterpretation" with Bryan Singer's movie -- portraying him as this moody, mopey single father -- and the vast majority of viewers hated it, to the point where they've had to start over...AGAIN...with this film. Though it tried (and failed) to bring back elements of the Donner films, the actual tone of the movie was darker and the character severely altered to fit Singer's personal taste. Saying the latter was not a success is an understatement (the film barely made much more than its budget back despite Warners making a massive investment in it).

At this point, IMO the focus ought to be on making a great Superman STORY with the character being what he is. If you stray so far away from the character that it no longer IS the character, then what's the point?

Of course, as I said -- it's just a teaser, could be the movie works great, and I certainly hope it does. But, I just had flashbacks to the Singer film again, and IMO the "realistic" approach of Nolan's Batman films is going to be a tough sell with Superman. They are distinctly different characters, tonally and otherwise. Maybe Snyder can pull it off, but after sitting through his last couple of films, I have my doubts.

I think SUPERMAN RETURNS was pretty much a pastiche of the old SUPERMAN films (even though it may have been a bit darker). If we can gleam anything from this teaser, it's that the Snyder film is a far more progressive affair than that. I hope and also think they'll ground many elements in the classical Superman mythos, but I really look forward to the 'reality'-type adaptation of it; which hasn't been tried before.

I don't think you need to fear that the movie will be anything like SUCKER PUNCH.

I think we do actually. He has developed a style now that for his past 3 films he has utilized. Stylish, slow motion action shots that call way too much attention to itself, languid pacing and in your face urban sounding scoring. Yes, he may just blow us all away with a completely revamped style and signature. But I do not believe he is that talented enough to pull it off. But again, we'll see.

Ive said it before I will say it again. I'm hoping for a Fleischer style Superman movie. Colorful serial style story deflecting death rays and fighting giant robots. Now that would be cool!

Hi, anyone know the correct sequential film order of tracks for the two Man of Steel albums (the two discs in the Deluxe edition)?

It's been quite a while since I have either seen the movie or listened to the album....but in another thread I posted:

"The general consensus seems to be somewhere along the lines of:

CD1: 01. Look to the Stars [02:58]
CD1: 04. DNA [03:34]
CD1: 05. Goodbye My Son [02:01]
CD1: 12. Ignition [01:19]
CD1: 11. Launch [02:36]
CD1: 13. I Will Find Him [02:57]
CD1: 07. Krypton's Last [01:58]
CD1: 02. Oil Rig [01:45]
CD2: 02. Are You Listening, Clark? [02:49]
CD1: 03. Sent Here for a Reason [03:46]
CD1: 15. I Have So Many Questions [03:47]
CD1: 16. Flight [04:18]
CD1: 09. Tornado [02:53]
CD2: 04. You Led Us Here [02:59]
CD2: 07. Arcade [07:25]
CD2: 03. General Zod [07:21]
CD1: 08. Terraforming [09:49]
CD1: 10. You Die or I Do [03:13]
CD1: 06. If You Love These People [03:22]
CD1: 17. What Are You Going to Do When You Are Not Saving the World? [05:27]

Then possibly unused...

CD1: 14. This is Clark Kent [03:47]
CD2: 01. Man of Steel (Hans' Original Sketchbook) [28:16]
CD2: 05. This is Madness! [03:48]
CD2: 06. Earth [06:11

I'm not sure this is spot on personally.....I think the track "General Zod" appear in a couple of places...hacked up a little...but the jury is still out on this order so please don't regard this as gospel - more of a work in progress. "

.....with some claiming out there that "This Is Madness!" should actually be track 2...

....hope this is of some help....
