It's one of these things that will probably not happen in my lifetime. Like "Columbo". I wonder if my grandchidren would have any interest at all in any of this...
It's already obsolete but I have more chances than you. I wonder if there're people on this board of a younger age who will be interested in it. Will this music ring any bells to them? We don't know.
Fan? Definitely Opinion: it is criminal there has not yet been a decent release of this music.
I plan on buying the complete series if for no other reason than to face the death probe again.
It fascinated me as much as it scared me.
Since I currently only have DVDs of season 2, my music choice is from that season. Top on the list is the music when Steve visits his forest ranger friend in the hospital in the episode "Taneha" and during the horse cart ride in "Stranger in Broken Folk". Another tune I really love to have is from "Nuclear Alert".
Then there is the music first used in Columbo episode "The greenhous jungle".
Prerequisite is that its melodic and good tunes. FSM's "Zig zag" had a few good tunes but there's also a lot of bongo in there that turns me off. I wouldn't get a set if it were mostly bongo bongo.
I'd be in line for a release as quickly and as much as I am for the coming Start Trek original TV series.

1_It's an original score and is part of three acid-rock-oriented scores (scores that punctuate a scene with an electric guitar)
2_It's stock music.
4_It's "Pilot Error" and it's an original score. The cue re-arranged from "The Greenhouse Jungle" is well-highlit at the end of the episode when Austin meets the tower lady.
I'd love to see this but the last I heard there was very little interest at the studio in discussing it. And I have no idea whether there are elements or not...
Think of it as a challenge, Jeff.
Can someone can do for the Six Million Dollar Man, what the producer of those excellent Airwolf soundtracks from overseas did if there are no surviving elements?
I'll take a SMDM soundtrack anyway I can, as long as I can get some of Lee Majors singing "Sweet Jaime," and the music from the "The Secret of Bigfoot."
I'd just love to know if the music still exists. Definitely put me down as someone interested in a release! While I'm young enough to remember the show if possible!! My #1 most wanted tv soundtrack!

I have yet to even open my S2 dvds but will do so this weekend. If there are any other standout scoring moments from that season, I'm all (bionic) ears.
My biggest is a soundtrack to the classic Six Million Dollar Man tv shows, with music from the episodes, "The Bionic Woman," and "The Secret of Bigfoot."
Anybody interested in this long shot?
I just happened to listen to my sound clips of "The Bionic Woman" parts 1 and 2 (SMDM year 2) the other day. That score remains as sensational as ever.
And I seem to recall that "The Secret of Bigfoot" had some jazzy action cues and a good love theme for Stephanie Powers. Good choices.
I just stumbled across this and the music made me smile... visually it's just two guys in jogging suits running and lifting fake weights in slow motion, but Oliver Nelson's music makes it seem vastly more exciting.
Just found "by chance" this odd but nice home made Teams, Zoom or something live gathering of brass players performing some Oliver Nelson's SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN music...
If only this could hemp the real thing to be realeased....

It's ok but the main line is slightly off. This is the original chart.
there is a B section which isn't part of the original main theme but for the sake of contrast and the chart I get why they added it.

With the exception of that killer drum solo (which is blistering), all of this was based on music heard in the series. The B section was used in the action scenes very early on.

This is actually a pretty kicking rendition. Thanks for posting it.

Oh that’s cool. I haven’t watched the series since I was a kid in the 70s so I didn’t remember that material.
I appreciate the gesture a lot, but why did they have to alter those recurring notes in the melody? That bugs me. Frank Sinatra did the same thing with "Bad Bad Leroy Brown," apparently to make it his own: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtdcaNQLE4A
But the motive for changing the melody in this case, with TSMDM theme, escapes me. And I'm not talking about the triple-tongue trumpet bridge, which was pretty close to the original notes but a tad slower in tempo.

Well, it's not a recreation of the score, it's a performance version. Like when Jerry Goldsmith would have his TV themes played in concerts. I thought this was great. It's a pretty repetitive piece of music with only the bridge offering variety. Changes and additions are gonna get made to keep it interesting.
