Been thoroughly enjoying the new Warner Archive release of Season 1 of the great, underrated detective series HARRY O starring David Janssen, and with a memorable main theme by maestro Billy Goldenberg. I think the melancholy first version is best. Hear them all here:

That was really nice! And yes, the first is best. Great television theme, by a master of the genre...

Glad you dig it! Warner Archive tell me via Twitter that Season 2 will be coming eventually, though there has been no official announcement yet.

There are some very pretty, moody renditions of the main theme in the early episodes that I have watched thus far.

I loved this show when I was a kid. Never thought it'd come out on DVD. Thanks for the heads up!

Ditto! A great show, and 70s Goldenberg was incredible! I can only hope that some of that material (from HARRY O and COLUMBO especially) can be rescued from oblivion and made available on CD.

Seems like much of the individual HARRY O episode scoring chores were handled by different composers, often working off Goldenberg's main theme.

I know Tony Rome lived on a boat. And Lon McQ had a boat. And Jim Rockford had a caravan. Oh and an answerphone. And Ironside had a wheelchair.

Did Harry O have a boat? I cant remember.

Harry O had a boat, The Answer, that he was continuously trying to repair. Haven't finished the series, but I don't know if he ever actually gets it on the water.

The HARRY O theme is one of my favorites---I didn't realize it was released on dvd.
If I remember correctly, Farrah Fawcett was Harry's neighbor before she became famous.

So did B.L. Stryker, Rick Simon (of Simon & Simon), MacGyver, the guys from Riptide and (the only female example I can think of) Kate Reed from Fairly Legal. Until her boat blew up, that is. frown
