Chicago Symphony. Very interesting. Williams has done a lot of concerts with them in the last few years (I was fortunate enough to attend one) so it appears he was impressed enough to record to score with them. About the only thing about this film I could be anticipating more than the score would be Daniel Day Lewis' performance.

Wonderful! I'm glad that we have new choir music from Williams. Though it's very weird that the CD release is announced so early. Especially when no trailer of the film was released.

This is my most-anticipated film score of the year. Thanks for the link, Jason.

If the cover provided is the final draft, I find it most curious that the cover designer (or the design team) deliberately omitted the name of the composer from it - and the world's foremost film composer at that. I wonder what the thinking was?

I've seen JW in Chicago so many times and that orchestra is truly ONE of the best in the world, bottom line. PHENOMENAL playing. I also heard they used the Chicago Symphony because of the ties of Illinois and Lincoln or something like that a while ago.

So looking forward to the score and film!

Like the old days when Spielberg/Williams Movies were an Event.

Hope the trailer, when it's released has score from the film like WAR HORSE did.

Really excited.

This will kick some serious ass!!

Maybe not, but it will be a wonderful exploration of the Williams Americana sound, I'm sure of it! Can't wait.

I think this will be a serious if not obligatory Oscar nominee and the type of Williams music that is so prominently Americana will probably get correctly featured in the score, notwithstanding Copland s' Fanfare for the Common Man. But nothing gets as Williams-esque than this project. I have high hopes. Thematic structure should be evocative of the larger than life feeling for this iconic president. I expect the score to have some musical reverence and respect for the subject as such. By the way with JFK, NIXON and John Adams Id say Lincoln would be be another presidential feather on Williams hat smile

I'm extremely excited about this! That being said, I really hope he doesn't touch any of his americana patriotic work. It gets predictable and obvious...Lincoln strikes me as someone that doesn't need patriotic music, just emotional personal human music that would connect people to the Man and not his image.

The major score release of the year in my opinion.

Always a special time waiting for a new Williams score!
Daniel Day-Lewis looks terrific by the way:

This definitely ratchets up my anticipation level a couple notches. Especially seeing the piano solo at the end. And basoon being featured is another interesting development. His basoon concerto is probably my favorite of his concertos, not that this is likely to be anything like that.

I echo this. I hope the score is more about the man than the time and place.
