Soul Of The Ultimate Nation- Howard Shore. Anybody have this? Is it worth picking up? Samples have that LOTR's vibe. Never heard of this soundtrack before.

I've had the Korean disc (same contents as the new release AFAIK) and it's a great score, especially if you like Shore's LOTR music.

It is definitely a variation of his LOTR scores and for me a marvellous listen. I have it alongside my LOTR complete scores on the shelf.

It's fantastic--for me like a combo of LOTR and Herrmann's Jason and the Argonauts...

Yes, LOTR plus theremin. A little monothematic but Shore varies things enough to keep the album interesting. Glad to see that it has finally received the wide release it deserves!

Can anyone tell me if the 2012 Howe Records release of this score is identical in sound quality to the original release?

I know the content is the same, but I want to know if it has been remastered, or if it's a bit louder than the current CD.

I have the original import version and I've wondered about this myself.

Found this for $10CAD on the weekend in Montreal. Very happy to have it in my collection, agree with all the comments here - A wonderful score.

I had no idea it was previously released in 2006, but the sound quality on this one great.

It amazes me that this score has not received the attention that it deserves. So many people yearning for another large scale Howard Shore score and here is one from 2006 that has been largely ignored. I wonder why?

Probably because it was for a video game that none of us played, and not for a Hollywood film.
